Finley was missing open receivers by 5-10 yards.

That’s not any more true than any modern offense.

He only threw 21 passes and about a quarter of his completed were 10+ yards through the air.

How can you make this criticism of just Finley when Johnson never averaged over 8.5 yards an attempt. I don’t remember him bombing it downfield every play.

Cox isn’t exactly excellent either. He threw 3 picks vs South Carolina and they lost.

You're blind. Both Max and Brennan are far more accurate than TJ downfield.

he will play at AU as a backup, but I bet he transfers from there too.

Max was captain dink and dunk.

You don’t average 7 yards an attempt because your super accurate downfield.

He had maybe 3 passes over 10 yards against Florida and 1 of them was to a wide open Boutte, like no one within 15 yards of him Boutte.

And if he’s that accurate down field how is he complete long under 60% his passes as a starter?

Please watch TJ’s HS film and his college film and tell me whats different… not a lot. Also please recall the endless dropped passes (8 in the first two games alone) in the beginning of the season for Myles.

He can actually throw downfield, accurately. Unlike TJ.

TJ. 5 games, 5 TDs 5 INTS, 5.7 AYA and 118 passer rating.

Max played in 6 games, 8 TDs one INT, 7.9 AYA and 135 passer rating.

TJ is so far behind it's not even close.

Sure and there is a reason 1 of them is transferring, but people act like Finleynis physically incapable of throwing an curate pass.

When he has time he can put the ball in a good spot. Which isn’t crazy for a freshmen pocket passer.

He just falls apart when they can get to him.

AndI’m Not saying he is better than Johnson or Brennan

I am Saying people are fricking mouthbreathers who are too quick to dismiss the good and are clearly blind to good in Finley’s game and some of the issue’s in Johnson and Brennan’s

Max can't throw downfield either. Hopefully he worked on that and it's changed. Brennan was the only QB LSU had last year that was reliable at completing passes at 15+ yards.

The major problem with TJ, when he can't find an open receiver he panics and throws it regardless.
If he can discipline himself, and just take the loss instead of the interception, he will be fine.

Sure looked like he could to me.

he can at least be accurate past the line of scrimmage, unlike TJ.

What’s your problem with St Jude AH? You must not have ever had a child, loved one, friend or anyone you know of that was treated there! I will gladly suffer thru all their commercials and mail outs, and do everything I can to support them. Just ask any parent of a child that received treatment there.

Nah, you actually said this;
quote:

Max was captain dink and dunk.
and mentioned his ypc

In the Florida game he had

6 completions over ten yds
3 of those over 32 yds

11 play drive, TD
9 play drive, TD
17 play drive, FG
9 play drive, TD

he also ran 18 times for 52yds

It wasn’t offensive and neither is a St Jude commercial. There’s nothing wrong with St Jude. That was the point of the post.

Found this thread from a while back. QB Comparison - Passing Charts

The results. Max Johnson was a below average deep ball QB last year. Finley was even worse at deep passes.

Brennan was and probably is still the best passer. That's not to say that he's the best QB once you factor in running ability and intangibles.

And of course. These are numbers from last year. A lot changes in between season, especially with a new coordinator.

eta: and here is the chart for Brennan.

You know I really want to root for the kid and I won’t root against him. But that’s what he is, a kid and he has to mature. TJ was very sheltered by his folks and somewhat put on a pedestal but when it comes to athletics, having parents who are completely honest with you about decisions and your future are the best. He has talent but having the mindset that you’re already the best is not good. I think he’s a great kid but anyone can see by the comments, his parents somewhat dictate his thinking which led to the transfer and back biting comments of locker room trouble to justify it.

Body language 101..
Crossed Arms- Tense, Unsecure, afraid, angry, creating a barrier, secluded. Throw that in with the unsure look on his face. I really don’t believe TJ wanted to make this decision. Of course he was hurt about his performance and getting passed up. That’s sports, but I truly believe he loves LSU. Nothing about him says egotistical but overbearing parents can create it. Lonzo Ball didn’t start progressing in his career until he broke away from Lavar. But I’m probably reading into it too much.
