I’m still livid about JC Copeland getting an unnecessary roughness call after the play when Hill had a run to the 13yd line.

Copeland had that big catch and run on the last play of the 3rd in the 2012 game but dude was a frickin bum pretty often. On LSU "last" drive of the 2012 game he fumbled near midfield and Alabama recovered but he got bailed out by a false start.

I sat in my seat for probably a good 20 minutes after the game just staring blankly into the middle distance. that's by far the most shell shocked I've ever seen TS

I can’t remember if it was ‘12 or ‘14 when Borne announced not rushing the field and we then lost

I’m going with ‘14, the game that Beckwith recovered the fumble at the 5 and we got the unnecessary roughness call from a lineman that was provoked into being a dumbass and backed us up to only get the FG

Then KO out of bounds and they went down the field w 50 secs snd no TOs

it was truly astonishing that with the game on the line and a QB as HOT as Mett was that night, that we ran the ball 3 times and played for a 6 point lead.

The cycle of dominance that Bama has had over LSU since 1/9/2012 both on the field in games and off the field in recruiting.

Borne did that in 2014.

I'm still pissed about LSU falling on that fumble instead of scooping it up. It was a group of LSU guys and not an Alabama player in sight. Just pick it up and score.

Same as if Beckwith goes left instead of right after the blocked field goal at the end of regulation in 2008 he runs it back for a TD easily. He had a convoy.

Two what ifs that still wake me up at night.

ETA: Just realized those what if plays were done by two different Beckwiths

THANK YOU for your service!

LSU Wins in 2012 if Honey Badger is not kicked off the team! On that Yeldon screen pass his back up Freshman Jalen Mills had a TOTAL brain fart! Honey Badger would have made that play no doubt in my mind unsder a minute left in the game!

Bama & Nick Saban would have found a way to keep Honey Badger on their team ; keeping disciplinary action in house!

Craig Loston was another bum. Dude looked like he slipped on a block of ice when he ran by Yeldon on that play.

That game was the actual beginning of the end for Les. Even more than 1/9/12 in my opinion.

I believe Bama was the better team in 2011, but in 2012 LSU was the better team and they win the national championship if they just hold on for one more drive.

Also I firmly believe if TM7 is playing the Yeldon screen never happens. I don’t know how to explain why and maybe Bama scores another way but he would have sniffed that play out.

‘14 was brutal too. I wasn’t there in ‘12, but ‘14 was the worst walk down the ramp I’ve ever experienced at Tiger Stadium. The quiet was deafening.

What a terrible and heart-breaking game. Almost as bad as it is 1/9/12.

It was actually a great game...with a bad ending for LSU fans. 1/9/12 was a terribly boring game where you felt helpless throughout knowing the HC was NOT going to change his offense approach despite the fact it was clear to all but him it wasn't going to work.

Les earned the "Mad Hatter" nickname in the 2007 game against Florida due to his guts and belief in his players to take the win. It was his fear that betrayed his players in 2012.

LSU didn't do shite offensive in the first half of that game. It was 14-3 at the half with Alabama scoring with 30 seconds to go in the 2nd quarter, and set to get the ball to open the second half. It felt like Alabama was ready to run LSU out of the building. Then, after an exchange of punts the LSU offense suddenly roared to life.

Mettenberger became unstoppable. Alabama was blitzing and hammering him. Didn't matter. He was standing tall and delivering strike after strike while taking a beating. On the last play of the 3rd quarter he hit JC Copeland on the route in the flat that Copeland broke for 40 yards. The stadium was going absolutely nuts at the end of the play. To get the full effect, watch the CBS clip of the play where the camera is literally shaking from the crowd going crazy as the game went to the 4th quarter.

That second half was probably the best Mettenberger ever played at LSU. Alabama was helpless to stop him, OBJ and Landry. Then, with Alabama seemingly on the ropes...Les cowered. Mid-way through the 4th, with LSU up 17-14, LSU had a 3rd and 2 at the Alabama 25. Mett had complete 8 of his last 9 passes. Les then decided to take the ball out of his hands and LSU was stopped on two running plays to turn the ball over on downs.

Fortunately, the LSU defense quickly forced a 3 and out. Mettenberger then marched LSU down field again...as he had all second half...converting two 3rd downs through the air in the process. Then, with LSU in Alabama territory with Alabama having to burn all of their time outs in hopes of getting the ball back Les ran the ball three times to set up a 45 yard FG try. A FG that even if successful still kept it a one score game. On the other hand, a LSU first down would have ended the game. With a red hot QB and WR the win was there to take...Les pussied out and didn't take it.

LSU was 7-1. A win puts them in control of the SEC West and the inside shot to the BCSNCG for the second straight year....The walk down the ramps of Tiger Stadium following the loss was the quietest I've ever heard the stadium following a loss. Even quieter than following the loss to Arkansas in 2007. The tidal wave of emotion in the second half was completely sucked out of the building.

I remember Loston constantly taking bad angles towards ball carriers and it became a running joke that he was not a good at geometry

IMO it was worse. We had them, and honestly you easily win the Natty that year if you hold on.

I can’t even remember walking out of the stadium. I was wiped out for 2 weeks. That and Arkansas 2007 triple OT were so painful to see in person.

Yeldon td absolute punch to the face. We win the 2012 NC easy if we beat bama. Needed one first down and LES didn’t go for it.
