re: I still think CMM is the right guy!

I support CMM too! He probably took over the most destroyed BB program in NCAA history thanks to that trailer trash coach WW. CMM had no players, no staff and a looming NCAA investigation hanging over the program. LSU fans have to have some patience, which I realize is not a strong point of our fanbase, but it's going to take time to rebuild the program back up. At least we don't look like a bunch of street yard thugs out there anymore and these players are actually running a system and are using fundamentals, not just street ballin' it!

I pray this is satire.

I don’t know why so many people can’t simply just discuss CMM, without comparing him to Wade.
Because it is the natural comparison that occurs ANYTIME a coach follows a successful coach whom the fanbase didn't want to see go. Miles was compared to Saban. Laval was compared to Bertman. Deboer is going to be compared to Saban. Zook had to live in the Shadow of Spurrier.

CMM seems to be doing a decent job.
Based upon what exactly?
Six new HC were hired by SEC schools before last season. These are their records:
Paris: 32-25 (13-17) .561
Gates: 33-32 (11-15) .589
Jans: 37-21 (13-16) .638
Golden: 33-24 (16-13) .579
White: 30-26 (10-19) .536
McMahon: 26-30 (6-22) .464
That's a decent job?

There are coaches that can scheme around lesser talent. Like Bum Phillips used to say about Bear Bryant, “he can take his’n and beat your’n, and then he can turn around and take you’n and beat his’n.”
Thus far he hasn't taken anyone's and beaten anyone's. The program is currently in a state of apathy that hasn't been seen in (at least) over a decade. I'm probably one of the few on here who still invests money and time to support the program. So believe me when I say I'd MUCH prefer to see him have great success than earn some sort of internet message board cred. But there just isn't much to suggest that is coming.
If you want the criticism and comparisons to stop you have to give people a REASON to stop. Until then it is going to continue

Will Wade nut huggers can't stand when CMM wins!

There are reasons to criticize both Wade and CMM. It is a waste of time to compare them, because their situations are different. Wade is gone. Maybe he is the better coach, but since he isn’t coming back, it is worthless to keep debating his merit. It is fair to discuss whether we should move on, but that has nothing do with Wade. It is much more relevant to compare CMM to other current coaches, and debate their relative situations, because maybe we can hire one of them. We’ve broken up with Wade. We no longer have a relationship with him, and it is irreconcilable. We should only talk about our coach and other potential coaches.

they fight hard. LSU has had a tough SEC slate so far, and I see them putting up a few more wins in league. {snipped} CMM deserves couple more seasons that should give him sometime to develop a little more roster continuity, and will determine if he will be successful at LSU.
C'mon man...if a team doesn't play hard for a coach, that coach shouldn't be the head of any team. What's next..."well, he shows up for all the games!"

We circle back to my main criteria for a good coach. If you can't pull an occasional upset even with admitted inferior talent, you aren't that good of a coach. That is over and above the fact that why in the hell can't you recruit competitive talent to begin with.

the key is - can he recruit those better players? will LSU baseball and football and women's basketball help him recruit?

What player in their right mind would have wanted to come and play for LSU last year? We were only a few weeks away from canceling the season after having to gut the roster. After having to put together a MASH squad our new staff only had 4 months to teach a brand new system much less gel.
No elite players even gave us a second look. The impending sanctions and recruiting restrictions carried over til June of this year. Coach is finally on level ground and has his system in place. The people that think there is an easy fix to the destruction Wade left in his wake are stupid. And comparing other 1st year coaches and their success to LSU’s predicament have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about.
