Granted we played like dog shite and I understand the pessimism but.. we can make changes to make this team better

Things to consider: if Stingley and Logan are in, I legitimately believe we survive and win that game
-Burrow masked LSU’s shitty Oline play all last year by maneuvering the pocket
-KJ Costello in Leach’s scheme will be lethal this year

Things that have to change:

-Pelini must do in game adjustments or he’s going to be fired by the end of the season. He has to switch up the looks because we do not have the talent in the secondary to play man all day
-Brennan cannot play scared like he did; felt that improved some in 2nd half
-The Nicholls transfer just can’t see the field again
-Toles needs more playing time
-WRs need more time on the jugs machine
-Jaray Jenkins should start over McMath until proven otherwise
-Arik Gilbert should not under any circumstances be asked to block as a TE.. he sucks at it
-We need to establish the run WAY more than we did
-Need better coverage from LB’s.. think that’s where Devonta Lee comes in
-If BJ Oujilari is our best rushing end in practice, then fricking play him!

I’m praying this is a wake up call to the team. Can’t follow up a championship season with an absolute dogshit performance

The offense didn't look the same.

Defense didn't look the same.

How could you feel good about this team after what was shown on the field yesterday?

Can’t feel good about a team with that quarterback. I know it sounds extreme, but the other QBs might need a shot and just get them experience for next year.

Brennan showed the vision and pocket presence of a spooked child and the guy is a senior. That’s terrifying how little he’s improved.

I have no confidence because both sides of the ball failed to learn. The offense failed to learn (after the best year in CFB history!!!) the importance of RPOs, draws, and spread concepts. Instead we have a pro style BS. Pelini failed to learn that maybe he should adjust after 300,400,500,600 yards in the air. Brennan failed to learn how to lead. Awful day

You’re the only one. The d-line played well, but there weren’t a lot of bright spots outside of that. Brennan needs to learn how to see the field and has to completely overhaul his footwork. Those aren’t little fixes. If he ain’t got them by now, he’s not suddenly going to get them in a couple weeks. We’ll need to see a truly transformative coaching up of the secondary for LSU to even be competitive in many games down the stretch.

The scheme didn’t look different. The difference was Brennan couldn’t make pre-snap adjustments, couldn’t run the rpo, and couldn’t see, let alone hit, the open receivers downfield.

As one of our highest rated prospects ever this is quite inexcusable.

I watched for 3 years a guy like landry putting people on their arse.

I dont think the rest of the SEC will be as unprepared as we were. I will be surprised if he throws for 500 again. Now due to his offense scheme he will probalby throw for 400 every week.

People need to understand on here how undermanned we are in the secondary and look at the recruiting... Numbers are way too low and too many projects in starting/playing roles

Survive?

we’re talking about “surviving” against Miss State?

You hit on a lot of good points. This team is better than they showed yesterday on both sides of the ball. There were a bunch of new faces in the fire for the first time and it showed. I believe they have a chance to be a top 5 sec team by years end if they improve on their mistakes and are given a better scheme by the coaches. Playing against that offense with 4/5 new starters in the secondary was the perfect storm. I put blame on pelini and O for not adjusting.

We didn’t exclusively play man, but they were getting destroyed so badly it wouldn’t have even mattered if they played zone. We had safeties deep a lot of the time to provide shell coverage and it didn’t matter. The DBs are just bad right now. Conditioning also appears to be an issue for these young guys and some aren’t healthy.

-Toles needs more playing time

Really don’t think Toles would’ve made that much of a difference vs an air raid scheme.

He doesn’t suck at it, he just hasn’t been asked to do it all that much before. He’ll get better. At least he showed a willingness to try and has the physicality to do so.

Honestly the LBs covered well in the flats. The scheme was to move the LBs out from the middle so they could feast on crossers.

He played a lot. He was ineffective

I’m not a big Pelini fan, but he DID change up the looks. Leach’s system accounts for that. When we were in man, their receivers recognized it and ran crosses and fades; when we were in zone they ran to the empty places. The only way to stop that is to get to the QB fast or bully the receivers in man. Normally LSU can bully the receivers, not yesterday. Pelini was without options.

I can’t see it, but I hope you are right.

Not getting the TD after half really crushed my hope for this team.

Doubtful. Our deficiencies are more significant than just missing Stingley and Logan.

Agree and Brennan is not capable of masking poor OL play.

Defense have film on him now. It’s going to get tougher for MSU. LSU was totally unprepared.

Agree. However the defense may not be capable of running other schemes because they have not been taught those schemes.

He improved in the 2nd a bit because the running game improved. Brennan just doesn’t have it. Can’t read pre-snap...not one audible during the game. A lot more un-athletic and clumsy than expected. Slow to react. Brennan is simply not an SEC QB. You either have to have big smarts (processing speed) or big athletic ability or combo of both to be successful in the SEC. Brennan lacks both.

Pretty much agree with all your other points.
