Both teams were walking off the field, every coach and ref believed it rolled dead. Refs have a brain fart and forget to blow whistle. UGA player just picks up ball and runs for the hell of it just to see if it will stick. No way that TD should have been allowed. SEC refs have no common sense

It always amazes me at how little players and coaches know about the rules sometimes

Why was everybody on both sides walking off? Answer: Because it was a dead ball

Interesting take blaming the refs when adequate coaching would have solved the issue

Because they thought no one would pick it up, which would have then made it a dead ball.

The guy who picked it up clearly wasn’t walking off, nor was the other player who was watching him

the ball was rolling when the UGA player picked it up

Nothing is dead until the whistle is blown

Did you want the refs to blow the whistle on a play that was still ongoing? It was 100% the right call, we just fricked it up. Not on the refs that’s on our players and coaches.

no. He sat over it for like 5 seconds before picking it up. It was a very strange play

That’s not at all what happens. The UGA guy did exactly what he needed to do. He stood by the ball waiting to see if any from LSU was paying attention. If anyone from the LSU side of the ball would have followed the ball and ran towards him, the UGA kid would have left the ball alone and UGA would have taken over where LSU missed the kick from. But no one from LSU finished the play, so he scooped it up and ran for a td.

The refs are not to blame, it’s 100% LSU’s fault.

Or maybe the ST coach makes sure all players know that a blocked FG is a live ball.

I mean having all 11 guys on your field goal kick team aware of what they need to do on a blocked kick is pretty fundamental and basic.

I mean I can see a few brain farts but not a single guy knew the ball needed to be downed.
