That was Saban. We scored the go ahead TD in Tiger Stadium and they had a little less than 2 minutes and we sat back in prevent defense with a 3 man rush and AJ McCarron picked them apart with 10-20 yard passes and marched right down the field and scored to win the game.

I wanted to murder Miles and whatever idiot D coordinator that was responsible.

That was the 2012 game. Alabama had picked up on a tendency of Chavis' on film to bring pressure the first play after a team crosses the fifty. McCarron saw Jalen Mills was set to come off of the edge and they threw the Yeldon screen right behind Mills. Mills was a young player and continued upfield instead of sitting and recognizing the screen. That's why lots of folks think Tyrann makes that play if he was on the team just because of how savvy he was on the field.

I think that DC for that game was, dare I say his name - Bo Pelini.

Nah, Pelini never had us close enough against Bama for it to matter in that 2nd stint.

It was Chavis, I thought it was Pelini. I didn't like either.

The game plan should have been the opposite - try to create pressure any way possible considering the height advantage their WRs had over our DBs. Not sure what they were thinking. And a 3-man rush is rarely a good idea.

No, another poster confirmed it was Chavis.

I remember watching the post game interview with McCarron and Saban and I think it was McCarron that said, “We knew exactly what they were going to do and they did it.”

I wanted to shoot my TV.

so they were playing zone and not letting people behind them in long 3rd down situations.

What good is keeping everyone in front of you when on 3rd and 8 you give them 10-12 yard completions with ease?

On fourth and 2 we finally brought pressure and missed the back leaking out of the backfield.

But out of the 10 for 15 they converted on 3rd and 4th down, we brought pressure once, and that was a short yardage conversion. Travis had all day to allow a recevier to find a hole in our zone coverage on the many 3rd and long situations.

3 Man rushes were too much of an overreaction. Should have gotten creative with 4 man pressures but unfortunately House was playing with a bad hand. He had 2 linebackers who looked lost in zone and DBs who couldn't match up in man-to-man coverage. I agree I would rather bring pressure to force the ball out quick but unfortunately the few times he elected to do that Jordan Travis did get the ball out quick and burned us. So its really a catch 22 at that point.

Exactly.

Any decent college QB is going to pick you apart if you get no pressure on them regardless of how many you have back in coverage.

Or they’ll tuck it and run for the first down.

And the times he rushed three and dropped eight, they converted long third downs.

Nothing that goofball did worked.

Nothing well, you cannot not make a steak dinner when you only have vegetables in the fridge. People always want an perfect end product with no conception of what it will take to get there. They have had basically one full recruiting season at LSU.
