I re-watched a few of Auburn's offensive plays against Florida.

Nix does not check out of plays. No audibles.

Auburn would line up, Florida would read the offense and Auburn tried to execute into the teeth of Florida's defense. From that standpoint it reminded me of the old Les Miles offenses where the QBs were not allowed to audible or the QBs were not schooled enough to recognize defensive formations.

Every single play Auburn was running you can see the open space in Florida's defense. Bo Nix was simply not taking advantage of it.

I believe, as he has all year long, that Burrow will recognize Florida's pre-snap defense and make adjustments. Burrow is the difference maker.

We are very fortunate to have cerebral QB like Burrow. Especially a QB that has more time to study film during the week compared to other players given the fact that he is a graduate student and only taking 3 hours this semester.

It looked identical, and I took a deep breath of relief knowing we could be doing the same damn thing AGAIN

I'm really pumped for this game. Strictly from a football purist standpoint I'm curious to see the chess match between Grantham and Brady/SE. Burrow is much more comfortable and confident in this offense vs last season and he should make good adjustments to UF's defensive formations.

Defensively, I think this is the game where Aranda gets the best of Mullen.

Just to be clear, not checking out of bad plays looked identical. Auburn is not running a toss dive offense. Lol.

In the interview posted yesterday, Florida DC Grantham talked about this.

He said Auburn lined up and did pre-snap reads but did not make changes after that. On the sack that pretty much sealed the win, he stated Nix locked on one side of the field and never looked anywhere else.

He then stated that LSU makes changes as the play unfolds. The receivers and Burrow see the leverage and adjust as they go. Also stated Burrow reads the D well and will check down to his 2nd,3rd, or 4th options.

Can't wait for the game.

Just watched the condensed version of the AUvUF game. AUvUF

Honestly, Auburn could have easily won if they were anywhere near competent with the pass. Bo Nix can't hit the side of a barn. He was missing wide open receivers left and right. Also, I was surprised that Florida threw the ball pretty well, but besides the one long run from Perine, they didn't run the ball effectively at all.

After watching that, I think we torch the Gaytors. Burrow ain't gonna miss those open receivers like that, and our WR corps and passing game is far superior to Auburn. I like our Defense to hold their rushing down as well but play better on the outsides. We're thin in the Defensive Backfield, but I think Aranda calls it a little more aggressively than we did against Texas because he's not concerned about the QB running.

That game gave me so many flashbacks on the old offense that I almost had to turn it off. Until I realized I loved watching these 2 teams struggle in every area of play. So glad to be done with that offensive gameplay even if it's just for this year. I was hoping both teams would lose. And in a way they both did. Kyle Trash got his knee hurt and Nix got his confidence destroyed. And here I was just

There were two to three big plays that Nix just absolutely missed. Auburn left a lot of points on the field.

Auburn lost the game by not being able to convert 3rd and short. 4-5 drives ended with them trying to run into a 8 man box and getting stuffed.

I think this is where LSU can shine with the quick passing game and the ability of the running backs to catch the ball out of the backfield. Florida will actually have to play defense all 3 downs and not just run towards the LOS when the ball is snapped.

Nix is a true freshmen, how many true freshmen audible?

Also, that’s how Malzahn does it. Yes it’s dumb. They line up with a play and then look to Malzahn on what to do.

Malzahn doesn’t trust anyone else to call a play. He’s a narcissist. That’s why he is back to calling plays. It is what it is.

Given all of that, I still think you can’t take one game and expect everything to go the same the next game.

No auburn lost because Bo Nix can’t hit a wide open receiver. He simply missed several wide open throws against Florida. No wonder they didn’t try to throw more. It’s because they have one of the least accurate passers in college football. Even his big throw to beat Oregon was dramatically under thrown.

Watching this game gives me even more confidence that we'll handle both of these teams. UF will not know where the ball is going with Joe at the helm. Just need the OL to do their job. Don't turn the ball over, and no busted coverages to give them big plays.

And Nix...good grief. He overthrows a wide open WR just enough for him to extend himself and fall when he could have trotted into the end zone. Then an end zone pick a few plays later. Should be fun watching a true freshman QB come to TS when the Barners roll in. I know...one game at a time!

Not many, if any.

Agree 100%.

However my overall point is, Burrow should recognize Florida's pre-snap defense and check into the right play (as he has been doing all season long). That presents a different challenge for the Florida defense. Something they have not seen all year long. I do not expect Florida's middle LB to check out of defenses once Burrow makes his adjustment. Offenses and defenses just don't play that cat and mouse game at the college level like they do at the NFL level. The exception is Burrow (and a few other QBs like Hurts and Ehlinger). That's why I said he is a difference maker.
