did the awards circuit have them WAY off their normal game last night? It seems like they were already gone to the NFL.

maybe all these awards presentations etc should take place after the season is over to stop this nonsense from happening.

PP7 was on an island and many of those passes were back shoulder or comeback routes. That being said he was giving too much cusion. # 8 is legit! Also A&M offense doesnt lend itself to a lot of sacks or pressure. They get the ball out quick and spread you out. Kind of thought I was watching the Auburn game in the first quarter.

No matter how many passes he gives up, bad plays etc Peterson is bullit-proof. Ive never seen a guy have so many excuses made for him by the fan base. Truth is he played like garbage last night.

Good point here. Nevis was a non factor and had no effect on the game. I give props to Tannehill for putting the ball out of reach for PP7. He didnt look ready for the NFL because Pro quarterbacks do that naturally. I will say that Tannehill could be special in the Pros. He had great accuracy. Two of his three INts were not his fault. The first was misplayed by the reciever and the second was on the money, he just isnt accustomed to the speed of the NFL that LSU brings.

If you defend the way he played last night with excuses then you have no credibility. Remember good players can have bad games without needing excuses. The A&M reciever owned his arse last night. Thats just a fact.

The way I see it is it just goes to show you that we won't miss a beat without them next year. Of course I'd love to have PP7 back, but the way they played and we still handled a very hot and confident team, we won't miss them as much as most think b/c of the players taking over for them are pretty damn talented as well.

because he was so good most of the season if forced other teams to throw at our freshman and in turn gave them a LOT of great experience and they have stepped up to the challenge - the 2 positions I am least worried about next season are 1. RB and 2. CB

I thought PP was soft last night, not coming up to support the run, but A&M worked him on the timing routes, outs and dig routes. Nevis, I agree, was a non factor last night. Looked like they were playing not to get hurt.

CBs get owned when they get beat, miss tackles, get burned, etc... When a receiver makes a handful of catches on back shoulder throws and ins and comebacks and gets 0 yards after the catch for the entire night, the CB is doing his job.

PP7 didn't play amazing last night that is true, but it's also true that the qb and the receive that PP7 was on had great timing. Throwing back shoulder passes, comebacks, etc. It wasn't like PP7 got BURNED on the plays though, he did what he was supposed to do on those plays, tackle after the catch. A back shoulder throw or come back kind of throw is really hard to defend and PP7 was giving him too much cushion, probably to prevent a big play from happening. PP7 got worked but not burned, and he didn't play like garbage.

I don't claim to be an expert but people sure are quick to try to point out anything negative about PP7, and in this case he did his job. He wasn't spectacular but he got the job done.

It looked like Peterson was man to man all night and the safeties were playing over the top of Morris Claiborne/Simon and Tyrann Mathieu.

What this means is that the other two CB's can be aggressive and take chances on balls because they know the safety is over the top to help.

However if Patrick Peterson is alone in coverage his job is not to be aggressive it is to cover the guy and if the ball is completed make good tackles, because if he gets out of position or misses a tackle it will be a touchdown.

It seemed to be the same scheme LSU has played all year and he did what he was asked to do.

I still stick to what I said during the season...PP is not ready for NFL yet. He makes poor decsions at times and gets owned by good receivers. Last ngith #8 made him look bad, much worse than Julio did. He is a great player, but I don't thinkhe is ready. He will definitely be picked off of potential for CB and will be DANGEROUS as a returner

you need a better grasp of a game plan. It was obvious PP was man to man all night. 8 will play in the NFL and PP kept him from making anything over the top. Give me just one example by the way PP played was garbage. Did he give up more catches than usual, yes. Can you look back this morning and say damn 8 killed us lastnight, no. PP did his job and did it better than some of you are willing to admit.

yeah, i couldnt believe how much cushion he was giving Fuller. I'm sure it had to do with Chavis defensive play calling but when a reciever is consistently catching passes you gotta do SOMETHING to mess his timing up. However, he WAS rite there each catch to make the sure tackle. The blitzing packages were really helping though, forcing Tannehill to make some errant throws and rushing his passes. I don't remember seeing them get any yards after the catch on PP7. I didn't even realize Nevis was in the game the whole nite by the way he played. Like he had nothing left from the season.
