I know we have 8 RBs, but Kaleb Jackson and Logan Diggs have to split reps moving forward.

Jackson is clearly the future at RB (with Durham). He needs at least half the reps this year.

Josh looks fine when he runs and is a good pass blocker. He should get enough carries to disguise packages

True, but Diggs made some great chip blocks vs MSU that allowed Daniels time to hit receivers. Josh isn’t the only LSU RB who is good at pass blocking. Hopefully Jackson picks that up fast, because he looks a little bit like he has LF7 level potential in the run game.

Yeah came to post similar. He has value blocking and takes pride in it remember the Alabama game. Definitely an asset pass catching

He will get more and more reps once Frank knows he can pass protect. He has the most upside for sure but they are not going to let their QB get killed.

Diggs pancaked a blitzing LB on one play.
This play.

In today's CFB so much less focused on a RB bell cow type, you need 2 RBs to rotate with a 3rd change of pace type with 1-2 backups (for injury stepping in and end of game blowout scenarios), that's it.
The fact we have 8 RBs I think is confusing the coaching staff because they are trying hard to give everyone a piece of the pie except Goodwin who is hurt.
The way I see it is this for now:
RB1 - Diggs
RB2 - Jackson
Change of Pace - Emery or maybe Goodwin when back
Backups - Williams/Cain
Just dont know about Bradford or even why he's back for a 3rd time and Holly is a clear redshirt.

a 4th RB didn't touch the ball until it was 41-7 lol.
Diggs, then Emery spelled him. And Williams was in there on most 3rd downs.

Not to mention we have the new Louisiana High School Football career rushing record holder sitting the bench as a true freshman and he hasn't had a single carry yet. Somethings gonna have to give in the RB room or we gonna have guys transferring out, which is unavoidable now days if you're recruiting well and hitting on all your takes at a position.

Diggs, Jackson, and Williams look like a clear top 3 to me. I think it would be a mistake not to assume Williams will continue to see a good portion of the snaps at this point. And I’m OK with that. He’s been our most reliable RB over the past 2 seasons, if not the flashiest (although he did have a nice 35 yard run against FSU).
I think for now it’s probably Diggs, Williams, Jackson. And I think Jackson continues to earn more touches as the season goes on and he learns the offense.

It clears up after the season.
Diggs will go pro, Williams and Emery are out of eligibility, and I assume Goodwin transfers out.

Yeah this is why I’m not convinced Jackson has shown he knows the offense yet. We haven’t seen him get touches yet in a competitive game, when the playbook is still wide open.
The ability is clearly there but he’s a true freshman and that’ll take time.

They are trying to find a rotation. They will play 3-4 guys most games. I think jackson will get a few meaningful snaps per game fairly soon

Emery deserves to be about seventh on the depth chart

We have 4 RBs wh9o have between 14-24 carries. The guy who started the first game hasnt been seen since then (who knows why there) and Emery just got back and got some carries in this last game. Good win is hurt like always and Holly I dont think they have intentions of playing this year really.
They are still very clearly trying to figure things out. My point was having 8 scholarship RBs is beyond overkill for the position.

27 ran the ball very well. I want him in the rotation.

They are, but you said they are confused and they aren’t. Two games have been blowouts, it’s irrelevant how many guys have carries.

We got guys starting games who people didnt even think really existed and 4 guys with similar amounts of touches through 3 games. There's no set anything there right now. The #1/#2 ball carriers have been different almost every game through 3 games.
They are very clearly trying to get things figured out while it should be obvious now who should be getting the real touches moving forward. We'll see what they actually do moving forward, but trying to keep 5-6-7 guys happy shouldnt be the way.

Only player that's probably transferring is Goodwin.
Bradford's only option is to stay as a depth player or transfer and sit (or go JUCO).
Emery, Cain, Williams are all in their final seasons and Durham is the only RB commit.
The majority of snaps next year will be between Diggs (unless he declares), Jackson, and Holly.

They don’t have to. Since Diggs has been back, I don’t think Bradford has even played, and Cain has strictly only played in garbage time. Holly & Godwin haven’t played at all. It’s not all that complicated.
