I know it was against FCS but we look different with a mobile QB

I think Sloan needs a versatile, agile, and mentally sound QB in order to implement his offense.

His offense is whatever he calls when Nuss is in the game or any other QB. You adapt your offense to fit the skills of your players. Otherwise, you don't survive as a coach.

Van Buren combined with the Mississippi State season and last night has a total of 73 carries for 4 yards.......and his long over those 73 carries is 17 yards.

I'm not agreeing with OP's point but to your callout of stats, VB was thrown into a shite situation last year with a bad team around him

Looking at his highlight reel you can tell he is electric. Look at his highlights against a good D - Georgia specifically.

All I'm saying is VB is definitely a dual threat with talent around him. It's honestly a great thing to have in our backup because if God forbid something did happen to Nuss, teams wouldn't have game plan ready for what MVB can do.

Wait until you hear that Nuss has -209 yards for his career rushing.

Has nothing to do with Nussmier. He’s not being touted as an electric dual threat and never has been.

I’m just pointing out that Van Buren isn’t the next Lamar Jackson like this board is claiming. His rushing stats are pure garbage. I don’t care what situation he was in, someone that’s “electric” can make big plays with their legs on broken plays and he never did that in an entire season. He’s not some elite rusher.

Accurate according to his career statistics on ESPN. His rushing total last night brought him out of the negative total he had with Mississippi State.

I would have never guessed that. Must have lost tons of yardage on a few plays.

I guess Sloan is adapting to our QB.

I wouldn't say that.

He can scramble about as well as Nuss, if we're being honest about it.

I will say that MVB is more decisive about it than Nuss, which is why he looks so much better at it.

Yes, because all QB rushing totals attribute negative sack yardage to the QB.

Every OC in America is better with an agile, accurate and mentally sound QB. To bad they are like unicorns

Oh, you're looking for him to be a running qb. Running isn't the same as mobile.

And running isn't what the OP is saying LSU needs.

So Nuss' 26 yard run is better than any run MVB ever had.

We need to stick with Nuss starting and if you want to throw in the Van for special packages to keep the Defense on their toes then I’m all for it but you don’t all of a sudden switch QBs at this point. Nuss knows this offense much better and is competent enough to make calls at the line of scrimmage which is a big deal considering he’s gained the trust of his coaches. Talent is one thing but you have to understand and know the offense as well.
