I don't know why our fans want to shite all over the freshman playing stat...well with you I know its because you want to hate on O.

The true indicator should be how much the freshman are playing and at what positions. Starting 3 freshmen on the line isn't the same as playing some late in a blowout

Probably true.

Now, this is a situation we would not want LSU to have every year because that would mean that the freshmen are performing better than the upper classmen and that doesn't bode well for a championship type club.

So, yeah, I wish Orgeron would shut the fuk up about how many freshmen LSU are playing and they should come to LSU because of this fact. Bottom line, this should be an anomaly and not a regular thing at LSU.

Sounds like wasted red shirts.
Have you kept up with the modern game? If a player is any good he can go pro after his second year playing with a redshirt so why keep them back. Very unlikely that a redshirt will get much playing time as a senior anyway if the recruiting has been good and there are young hot shots coming in every year.

Only reason for a modern redshirt is if the player is very raw talent, physically or mentally and needs the time to develop. They come in from high school now, for the most part, ready to go and well coached in fundamentals. Only other reason might be that a player needs extra help with academics and they give him a year to get settled in at that end.

Correct. If we are recruiting good players year after year, then our depth chart should NOT be littered with Freshmen.

This year should be an anomaly.

Having said that, the Freshman that we're playing all look to have potential. If they progress, develop and improve like they should, then this 2018 recruiting class is huge.

Back-to-back deep recruiting classes is what we need to put ourselves back into contention.

Here is some info from the LSU website:
https://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=211151291

this is about true freshmen and doesn't take into account the redshirt freshmen.

* So far this season, 20 true freshmen have played for the Tigers, which is tied for the most in the nation after seven weeks of the season.

That's a pretty stupid thing to think, much less type out on a message board.

And by my count 12-13 RSF have played as well. Meaning 32-33 players are playing this season that have never played a down of CFB.

In all it's a staggering number no matter how you slice it.

I can't even figure out what is happening in this thread. Are idiots arguing against the fact of the freshmen/RS freshmen playing. Are they trying to belittle LSU because of it.

Here is another tidbit from the article: (This is for players who have started for the first time this season only and does not include players who spell the starters).

* Twenty-one Tigers have earned starts for the first time so far this season:

DE Ed Alexander, Sophomore
RB Nick Brossette, Junior
OG Garrett Brumfield, Junior
TE/F Tory Carter, True freshman
RG Saahdiq Charles, True freshman
LB K'Lavon Chaisson, True freshman
WR Drake Davis, Sophomore
S Grant Delpit, True freshman
WR Derrick Dillon, Sophomore
OL Ed Ingram, True freshman
DE Rashard Lawrence, Sophomore
DE Glen Logan, RS Freshman
OL Adrian Magee, Sophomore
S Eric Monroe, RS Freshman
TE Jamal Pettigrew, RS Freshman
WR JaCoby Stevens, True freshman
WR Stephen Sullivan, Sophomore
LB Tyler Taylor, True freshman
Nickel Kary Vincent Jr., True freshman
CB Andraez Williams, RS Freshman
LB Devin White, Sophomore

8 True Freshmen
4 RS Freshmen
7 Sophomores
2 Juniors

I also am not sure whether it happened or not, but this is where everyone is getting the idea of it happening from;
SEC Country - LSU likely to start three freshmen on offensive line against Auburn

NOLA.com - LSU could start 3 true freshmen offensive linemen against No. 10 Auburn

And countless other articles on websites about it.

It's what they do. They are miserable people and have found an outlet that allows them to try to convince others to also be miserable human beings.

Guys not leaving for the NFL is not realistic. Programs like LSU recruit players with the mindset that they will be here for three years. The league minimum for rookies is getting to the point where it makes financial sense to leave early no matter what round you will be drafted in. The days of only 1st and 2nd round drafts picks leaving early are over.

We're a very young team. Not only considering how many freshmen we play, but also considering how many new players had to step up after the amount of players we lost to the NFL. I didn't want to acknowledge it earlier in the season, but it's true. The talent argument is garbage though. We're very talented, as you can see on the field now. But we're also very young.

I remember he made some plays in that UNC game too. He was just a little guy out there tearing shite up. I've never seen anything like it.
