At this level, with a school with LSU's resources, if you think that your coach ever winning a NC is a long shot, that means you have the wrong guy coaching.
I understand those that would want to cut bait right now. I do leave open the possibility that I could be 100% wrong about Orgeron, though I believe that it's more and more likely as the months go by that I'm right about him.
Cool thing about all of this is that he can control that narrative about him and that starts in a few weeks.

Our resources are not any different than Auburn. However, we have only won the NC 3 times in our history. Auburn has 2. So, most coaches are longshots at winning that title.
I'd be hard pressed to name more than a handful that aren't longshots.

Some are longer shots than others.
So with Orgeron we're stuck with hoping to land a generational recruit the caliber of Cam Newton so he has a shot to win a championship. Great, glad you're ok with that.

That's one way to look at it. Ironically, I'd call that the negative view.
The other way to look at it is that after not having won a title for nearly 45 years, we won 2 titles in the span of 4 seasons and played for a 3rd in 8 seasons. So, a more positive view of our situation could look something like with the right coach and system in place LSU has a much better than their history's chance of playing for and winning a title given all other factors.
Now...who's positive and who's negative again?

Then what's even the point of bringing them up? In every thread which inevitably slips into an argument about O's hiring and his merits (which is a lot of threads these days - offseason FTW), several assholes insinuate that anyone who has reservations or negative thoughts about O wants LSU to lose. It's absurd.

Have you ever read here that "no one wants LSU to lose"? Those 2 refute that. Is it widespread? No. Same as idiots who support or justify LSU's loss to Troy. Some do, but they are known trolls. Is it widespread? No.

The posters that try to explain away the Troy loss aren't trolls. They genuinely believe what they argue, mostly to deflect blame away from Orgeron. And there are far more of them than people actively rooting for LSU to lose.

Orgeron kicked arse when realizing he was battling a coup attempt you jilted O haters help orchestrate. This is why the team suffered in the beginning, and exactly why they rallied to salvage the season. As I have said before, O's mistake, and he knows it, was allowing the irrelevant yank his chain when he 1st took the job. THIS is why he moved too hastily in signing an OC.
