Ole Miss rushed 3 and the rest of their D was at least 15 yards deep from the line of scrimmage. Easy 7 or more for any QB with quick feet. And with no holes down field those 3 eventually brought pressure.

A dual threat QB is a must for a team whose OLine is not overpowering for the run.

And even this aside, Nuss’s arm is just not what it was last year. Tight spiral and bullets aren’t there as he throws off balance. I think he is gun shy re being hit. And the Team might like him as a leader but if he can’t deliver MVB should get a shot. That or lose the big games.

How do you know he isn't getting serious consideration? He may be. You have no clue or idea what coaches are talking about right now.

MVB was practicing in Fall Camp with 2nd string WRs, RBs, OL vs 1st string Defense. Put the best QB in NCAA in on 2nd string LSU WR, RB, OL vs 1st string LSU Defense, and they will struggle.

He was really bad all of fall camp. If you are basing it off of his game against Southeastern that’s probably not a great thing to go off of

Again, people like you are completely neglecting the fact that he was practicing with 2nd string OL, 2nd string WRs, 2nd string RBs, and was going up against 1st string LSU Defense. You can put Chambliss, Diego Pava, anyone you want back there in that situation, and they are going to struggle.

I don't get what's so hard to understand about that, but it may require more in depth order thinking that some just can't pick up on it.

“Bad fall camp” is a stupid point in Week 5.

We’ve seen MVB before in SEC torching a lot better defenses than OM had yesterday.

MVB should have gotten the entire third qtr. Nuss back in for 4th.

We all get to see MVB, Nuss gets a realty check.

He took reps with the ones as well, but you completely missed the point of my post. It is that a young, instinctive QB will often look better in games than in practices.

MVB is highly inaccurate and panics under pressure and with our terrible offensive, he’d be one read and go. It’s more our offensive line sucking than Nuss but everyone is so quick to blame the QB

How do you know this? Did you watch him a lot at Mississippi State last year or are you just basing that off of a few bad practices he had in fall camp in August?

Nuss was missing on short, medium, and long throws. Very little was thrown in the window it was supposed to be in. Wasn’t a D1 performance at all.

I've always felt this is a thing for many reasons. I was a lazy entitled arse in HS that always skipped the weight room and thought I didn't need to practice well. When I got in games I was unstoppable but couldn't see why they wouldn't start me. I was so stupid then but I'm smart enough now to realize some people naturally shine when the heat is on.

MVB doesn't necessarily need to be QB1, he just needs to help us change things up or give Nuss time to heal if he is indeed hurt. That's why he is here.

It’s not like Nuss has taken care
of the ball.

IMO it's a pride/ego thing for kelly at this point. if MVB came in and looked great kelly would look stupid in the eyes of many.

Well, Nuss played the whole game and we LOST! In thar scenario, what would be wrong with Van Buren giving it a shot, maybe even a better chance at a win??

He may have the issue that Rohan talks about having himself. He says he didn't look particularly good in practice, but he would look great in games and scrimmages that mimicked real gameplay. He said that it is because the way they run scenarios in practice is kind of unnatural relative to gameplay. That makes sense to me as to why sometimes coaches don't recognize how good certain QBs are until they get thrust into actual game play.

And Josh Booty was the opposite. Looked like an All Pro in practice situations and lost his head in games.
