I hope CJJ has seen enough of

Riley Cooper! He's become reliable for giving up hits and runs, has a +6.5 Era and has given up way more hits and less strikeouts than innings pitched. Makes me worry just seeing him warming up. Am I wrong?

I agree the Riley Cooper experiment is way overdue to be shutdown. Cooper has had more than enough time to prove himself and he has failed.

Yeah he needs to sit the pine. I think the experimenting is over

I agree, but it really sucks having a guy that was reliable last year regress so far.

He needs to lose weight.

With a better pitching coach on staff…

He's in the wrong place to do it.

He pitched a lot last year, but I didn't think he was terribly reliable. He had a 4.20 ERA, which isn't great, but actually looks better than he pitched. He had a .301 batting average against, and this year year it's at .308 against. He gets hit around a lot. I think what we're seeing right now is more a case of his good fortune with runners on base regressing, rather than him pitching any differently.

Well I don’t think he has many other options so prepare to see a lot more of him.

Yes and No, he could go over and eat all his meals in the LSU nutrition center. They could get him on a weight reduction eating plan.
If he's on his own then he's in the wrong place to lose weight.

Somebody call in and tell Jay to put his arse on the carnivore diet and let him pitch next year after he’s lost 75 lbs.

Might be unpopular but I’d rather see Aidan Moffet get some innings over Cooper

He needs the outings to get better for sure

Cooper is a mid week pitcher now.
Posted on 4/26/23 at 7:53 am to Fisherchefjeff
He has a serious weight problem.
Posted on 4/26/23 at 7:58 am to Fisherchefjeff
Hell, I'm just thankful the dude has a healthy arm.

So he’s a low leverage bullpen guy which is how CJJ is using him. What more do you want?

Look,
You may not like it, but Cooper is peak male performance.

For those that don't understand what happened to Cooper this year it is simple. He has been forced to throw over the plate this year.
The new strike zone this year does not allow him to live low in the zone or on the corners. He just racks up balls on borderline pitches.
His stuff isn't good enough to get hitters out consistently when forced to throw it over the plate.
This is the case for a lot of pitchers by the way.

His usage has been off and on but certainly would not classify him as someone Jay only uses in low leverage situations
