Well, the time we had a QB transfer from the state of Indiana in 2000, it worked out pretty well, didn't it??

I decided to further define the post for all you nitpickers out there!

Interesting that the cry before was, it's not the talent, its the coaching. Now, the cry appears to be that it's not the coaching, but the talent.

How many years in a row has our recruiting been in the top 10 of the nation? If we have these great coordinators now to go alone with our always outstanding talent, why the lower expectations??

Oh, don't mind that grunting noise. It's just all the cheeriOs struggling to push the goal posts up as far as they can from where they had them dug in for the past decade

My thoughts exactly. We've had top 5-10 talent on our roster for years. Now that we've got a couple of great coordinators, let's see what they can do with this talent.

Good post. Lot of upside to Etling. A lot of people underestimating the mental aspect of playing QB in the SEC.
I'm seeing a lot of posts calling for Myles Brennan to take over at QB. Myles will get his chance, but you've got to go with your senior QB that has experience.

I'm also seeing all the gloom & doom posts. One guy picked LSU with 5 losses. Come on man, you got to have more faith than that.

Bottom line - no one knows how good, or bad, LSU will be. I'm a 'glass half full type of guy.
I've seen changes within the football program going in a positive direction.

Every HC, in any sport, should be given 4 years (minimum). Ya can't judge coach 'O' in just one full season.

I'm excited. I'm optimistic.
I'm ready for some football !!!

So nobody knows how good or bad we will be, but he can't predict 5 losses? Coach O has never lost less than 8 games in a full season as a HC, so it's not really that outrageous for someone to think LSU will lose 5. I remember last year when everyone freaked out on Barrett Sallee for predicting we would lose 4 games. Well, look what happened...

I also don't agree with this. While I don't necessarily think you can judge him on one season, if we win less than 7 games this year, he needs to be shown the door. He was left a roster loaded with talent, so he should win at least 8. Years 2 and 3, his fingerprints are everywhere, and the team should be competing for at least an SEC title. If he's not by year 3, he's not taking the program to another level.

Correct, this four year nonsense is for coaches taking over losing programs. While it was time for Miles to go and we weren't winning as much as we need to, Orgeron is not taking on a rebuilding job.

Do you not remember a fellow named Matt Mauck, who started the #18 tradition at LSU?

Exactly, although supporters of O will tell you that Les had run the program into the ground. The truth is, Les had the program in the best place its ever been, he just wasn't producing on the field. Over the last 10 years, Les has kept LSU in the SEC and national championship talk on a consistent basis, and continued to bring in elite talent on a yearly basis. December to August, Les was still elite. September to November, he was average. I just don't see how O is going to take us to the next level... And please spare me the whole "he's won the offseason" crap. He's done nothing any other coach out there couldn't do.

Yeah, but he wasn't a transfer. He played minor league baseball before he came to LSU.

Yes, he came here as a true freshman in 2000 after playing minor league baseball.

Can you tell me which quarterback from Indiana transferred here before Etling?

Quarterback
Quarterback
Quarterback

4 losses with Etling.

What rock have you been hiding under? Almost every analyst and article that talks about lsu football team for this upcoming season talk about chark having elite speed and hands that will make him a high draft pick

What analysts? CBS doesn't even have him in their top 10 WR for the 2018 draft, and a couple other articles I just read said that with a boost in production this year, he can be a middle round pick. Kiper does have him listed as his #2 senior WR, but there are underclassmen with better grades. In fact, the underclassmen WR that can enter early after this season is pretty loaded.

It really is baffling how long this has been the case.

If you would have told me in 2013 we would be back to where we started with no QB for 4 possibly 5 straight seasons I would have thought you were crazy.
