I agree and not bashing them. Our WR corp really hasn't had a go to guy on 3rd down since really Jarvis Landry left LSU. Quinn had potential to be that guy. I thought John Diarse played really tough for LSU. He blocked his arse of and made shite happen after the catch.

We need the WR's to step up and be FOOTBALL players. I'm also a tad bit worried about losing Bower, Godchaux and Lewis. Those guys were experienced ball players but we do have some in the wings on DL.

I expect 9-3. Last year I thought we had a championship roster and we played in the Citrus Bowl, so what the hell do I know.

Since A) neither of these actions on your part will have any effect on the outcome, and B) there's no way you can know in advance what the outcome will be, why not just do whichever of your options you want and not worry about whether it's right or wrong?

And by the way, I have no idea how we'll do this year, either. I could easily see us winning every game except Alabama or losing 5+.

I just want to see Myles Brennan play this year.

The only way I would EVER want to see a freshman under center at LSU would be with Jimbo Fisher as coach. I wouldn't trust any other coach in the NCAA to properly adjust a freshman QB to SEC game pressure.

I think 8-4, but the future is what I am afraid of. Few will admit it but if your honest you can clearly see that talent level has and is falling off considerably. Especially in the offensive and defensive lines. But its clear know that the talent has dropped at the skill positions as well. Orgeron gets all of this praise as a recruiter but where is the results? If anything they should be reeling in stud lineman but that just isn't happening. I see a good year in 2017 but after that things will get rough.

I'm going to be blunt, I have no confidence for LSU to win more than 9 games total with Etling at QB. I've been saying this for months, but one of the younger guys needs to get the go ahead. If it's Scott or Narcisse at the very least you get another rushing threat to confuse defenses like Bama, Auburn, and UF. Ed O had good things to say about Narcisse after the spring game (I didn't see much praise about the other guys), noting that he just needs to learn the offense. If it's true about Brennan being around 190 right now (from some poster here), then he should also get a chance. Strong arm, accurate, decently mobile, and played in a wide open offense. With true freshmen like Jake Bentley, Jalen Hurts, Shea Patterson, and Jacob Eason each starting multiple games at different SEC schools last year, I don't see why LSU can't do the same. These guys not onky got year one experience, but all of them will be very successful in the years to come. I don't want LSU to fall even further behind. I don't want LSU to try to run an offense in 2018 with no Guice, no Clapp, likely no Teuhema, and a brand new young QB. LSU has amazing talent to throw to, we have amazing rushing threats, we just need a playmaker under center.

Etling had 11 passing TDs in 11 games last year. He doesn't have a cannon like Mett or experienced NFL level returning starter WRs like Beckham and Landry, so expecting anything other than his continued mediocrity is setting yourself up for disappointment. I doubt Etling is still the starter by midseason.

The BCS doesn't exist. Maybe try to make it sound like you know what you are talking about. Even in the op you left it up for people to guess what you were even posting about.

The home schedule is laughable. I'm just worried about the away trips to bama, UF and Tenn. Tenn might not be very good, but they should still have a solid defense and are at home.

Im actually enjoying this too. Its the first year in a while that I have been tuning in to sports radio, reading articles on the team, etc just to get a feeling on outside thoughts. In the past few years, I had lost early season interest in such things since we all knew exactly what was going to happen with Les just going through the same motions. Im excited to at least be on a new ride!

Id rather have a bum year and have Brennan get experience. I'm jumping on the hype train. Edit: Because we will not beat bama or get to a national championship with Etling. He's a 5/10 on a good day.

With you all the way. we've had trash passing for 3 straight years and have still won at least 8 games. In those years only once was the defense a usual good LSU defense. I mean we had a true sophomore QB in Jennings who only had one game of starting experience, 7 returning catches from our entire receiving unit, an OL running a new blocking scheme, arse for defense in the first half of the season, and a mediocre run game the first half of the season. LSU still finished with 8 wins. The next year we had true sophomore Harris with about 2 games total of experience the season before with a crappy defense pretty much win 10 games if you add in the rained out rent-a-win.

With a back like Guice, good returning run blocking unit, new OC that utilizes a lot of misdirection and focus on getting speedy players out on the perimeter, a defense ran by Dave Aranda, this is the perfect time to let a young QB grow up.

I was all on the Scott train before the spring, but now I am very intrigued with Narcisse and/or Brennan getting a chance as well. all of them are more talented than Etling, and just maybe we strike it rich like several teams have done in the past.

agree, but I'd also like to not kill Myles' confidence in his freshman year. Let's not go through another Jarrett Lee situation..

Jarrett Lee was an exception. Not every freshman QB gets PTSD after one year.

Is he a top 5 QB in the SEC? Maybe, maybe not, but he's better than most. And thats a nice change for LSU at the position.

Please stop. Etling is one of the worst starting QBs in this conference. I can say with 100% certainty that Lock, Allen, Bentley, Hurts, Fitzgerald, Stidham, Patterson, and Eason will be better than him. Sorry not sorry. I'm tired of LSU settling for mediocre at best QB play.

Does LSU currently have someone on the roster that is better than Etling?

Really? How about these two linemen who are committed for the 2019 class.

#1 Rated offensive guard #12 overall rated player for the 2019 class
Kardell Thomas (LA)
https://247sports.com/player/kardell-thomas-85350

#2 Rated offensive tackle #19 overall rated player for the 2019 class
Kenyon Green (TX)
https://247sports.com/player/kenyon-green-88109

For 2018

LSU has the #12 overall offensive guard committed.

The #6 overall offensive center.

The #20 and #21 overall defensive tackles.

The #11 overall Weakside DE.

The #1 overall Junior College Weakside DE.

Plus Cameron Wire at OT Nelson Jenkins DT.

I cannot "clearly see that the talent level is falling off, especially on the offensive and defensive lines", like you somehow do. It actually, looks pretty darn promising to me.

We've just had 3 decommits from this year's class. I'm not sure how you can put much stock in next year's class. That's a year and a half away.

Indeed, and it's refreshing. No expectations, no pressure, just gonna enjoy watching Key, Guice, etc.
