When you average 30 ppg and have multiple 50 point games as a freshman, taking a lot of shots is encouraged.

Guys. Don't post often. But when I do it is usually while drinking a Dos Equis. But I watched live every CJ home game live. Love the kid Waters but it's not close. Chill and let' the kid grow. Those 2 shots vs TAM were incredible. Love will wade.

And PS. Randy Livingston (besides Ben Simmons) was the best point guard of your generation. He would have been Jason Kidd II. Or 1A. Pre knee. And Ethan Martin says hello!!! Derek Taylor says peace. Tac minor and fess Irvin say "not so much"

Waters is like CJ but with a real coach harnassing his talent to make the team better. It's awesome to watch.

Tiger pimp. Again. There is nothing about Waters that is CJ like. And to claim Will Wade ( love the guy) is a better coach/recruiter/person is Very pre-mature. CM avegaed 30 +. Dale was awesome with the program he had. Surely both disappointed at times but until WW goes to 2 Finals Fours and recruits athletic highest level. Please tap the brakes.

An awesome start to The Wil Wade Era and I wish. All these football idiots would step back and appreciate what WW and this basketball team has achieved so far.

1 missed lay up vs SFA and a close loss to UK and this team is Top 20.

But please. Comparing the 2 players and coaches is insane at this point.

As a scorer? Heck yes. Waters does everything else better, though. Having Chris Jackson was like watching the Globe Trotters. You saw a great show every night, but you weren’t going to win a REAL championship.

I’ll take Waters.

Ok

I was there for CJ at LSU. He is one of the greatest players in the history of CBB. The quick release circus 3's win at aTm looked eerily familiar. It's the first time since then that we've had a smallish quick release guard who is already playing like an All American. He's not CJ, but to say people are "insane" to make the comparison is a little silly.

SEC player of the week twice already as a frosh.

quote:

Waters finished the Texas A&M game with 21 points, five rebounds and four assists, three days after posting his third career double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds against Kentucky.

He also had three assists against A&M and leads the SEC in assists (6.0 per game) as well as steals (2.4).

Waters is playing at a very high level. I was being a little facetious about Dale Brown but he squandered one of the greatest rosters in the history of CBB, so he had that on the resume too.

Waters is silky smooth and he exudes confidence, and he's done things that remind me of CJ. REMIND me of him, but not make me think he's the coequal.

I hate to compare because it always seems like you're criticizing, but:

Chris was a more explosive jumper. Chris would be on the receiving end of alley-oops for dunks. I haven't seen Waters show that type of hops, he seems to move more laterally.

Shooting- CJ had the quicker release, and he'd go into a rhythm where he could hit 4 or 5 three's in a row, and would become just unstoppable. Waters has shown he can shoot with range, and he has shown he can shoot with the game on the line. He hasn't exploded on anyone the way CJ did.

Passing is close, I think people forget how good a passer CJ was. I remember a halfcourt bounce pass to Blanton for a layup that was sick. Honestly think Waters has the better teammates around him (compared to CJ's freshman year), Chris would make unbelievable passes that didn't result in scores.

FT's- I don't think Chris ever dropped below 90% in his career.

Defense- I thought CJ led the SEC in steals too, his hands were extremely quick.

None of this is meant to disparage Waters, as he is great. But just like seeing an extremely athletic big guard who could score would remind you of Jordan (but not be better than him), I think this is the case with Waters and CJ. He reminds you of him, but he isn't there.

Someone said "give him time". At this point in CJ's career, he was already leading the nation in scoring. Just consider that.

Early in Jackson's freshman year he was more of a facilitator, Blanton being the team leader. But a few games in, I think maybe a La. Tech game that we actually lost, Dale turned him loose, started running the old everyone get near the sidelines and let him go. I think he scored 49. I don't think that was always the best thing for the team but it sure was fun to watch.

Uh Waters is great.

He is not Chris Jackson by any stretch. Chris Jackson was something unseen in 20 years.

Jackson was amazing to watch and considering he had to play through all of the Tourette syndrome tics was ridiculous.

Unfortunately when he went to the NBA he changed his name with the whole Islam deal and became one of the first to refuse to stand for the national anthem. Still a heck of a player though.

Jackson's success is even more remarkable considering he has Tourette's Syndrome. He as talked about this openly and said he used the condition to his advantage playing basketball.

Chris Jackson is the best player I've ever seen at the college level.

However, I do think Waters is a better pure point guard.

CJ was more of a scoring guard trapped in a point guard's body.
