Sounds good in theory, but that won't work.

A friend of my girlfriend is getting married this Saturday at 5. The reception is going to go on well after the wedding and my only hope is that there is a TV at the reception. The kicker is that the reception is at Washington and Lee and I highly doubt there will be a TV around that I can watch. I don't know what to do. I already have the game recorded but I am not staying at my house for the weekend and will have to wait till Sunday afternoon to watch the game. Ok I will give you my advice. I had this type of problem for the Auburn game. It was my friends birthday, and they were going out to eat. Since it was the same night as the Auburn game, I offered to cook and supply beer for everyone. They declined, so I didn't go. Now realize his wife and my wife are BFF's, and we are their kids god-parents. I tried everything but they were dead set on going out. I refused to miss the Auburn game. I caught alot of hell for it, but after a few days everyone was over it.
This girls is not your wife, and she may be at some point, I don't know. But you are under no obligation to go. So if you want to watch the game, you watch the game. It's as simple as putting your foot down.
BTW who the frick get's married on the same weekend as LSU-Florida?

I would like to get laid and unlike most of you married people, my girlfriend still gives it up on a regular basis, a trend that I don't want to end..
when you want the woman, you must take the woman.

sounds like youre in a tough spot...
go to the reception and stay for just a few minutes.
bolt to the nearest bar and it should be on there.
leave the GF at the reception if you must.
its her friend, not yours.

FYI
Jefe: I have put many beautiful pinatas in the storeroom, each of them filled with little suprises.
El Guapo: Many pinatas?
Jefe: Oh yes, many!
El Guapo: Would you say I have a plethora of pinatas?
Jefe: A what?
El Guapo: A *plethora*.
Jefe: Oh yes, you have a plethora.
El Guapo: Jefe, what is a plethora?
Jefe: Why, El Guapo?
El Guapo: Well, you told me I have a plethora. And I just would like to know if you know what a plethora is. I would not like to think that a person would tell someone he has a plethora, and then find out that that person has *no idea* what it means to have a plethora.
Jefe: Forgive me, El Guapo. I know that I, Jefe, do not have your superior intellect and education. But could it be that once again, you are angry at something else, and are looking to take it out on me?

The biggest problem is that the place is about an hour away so the drive back will be during the 3rd and 4th even if I leave early.
Get a hotel room in Lexington. Watch game. Give girl a romantic evening thereafter. Win-Win.

Broke up with a previous fiancee because I went to the SECCG in '05 instead of attending a function with her family. When i got back, I was toast.

Yea, I have a GOOD friend that's having his honey-do (wedding) party the same day as the Georgia game
Can you believe that?
No chance I'm goin to dat damn party-I got season tix
Only way I go is if the game is in the afternoon, I'll go to the party when I get back home.

I was in the predicatment last year for the UF game. Luckily, one of the groomsmen had a DVR at his house and we all got together after the reception to watch the game.

Yeah, by family function, do you mean 2 year old's b-day party important or dad's funeral important?

I'm not understanding something here. Maybe it's just me, but I don't get this. First you said this:
And then you said this:
So which is it? Or what am I not getting?

Plus, the wedding is in Virginia so I don't know how well the coverage will be on the game.

The college football season is simply too short and weddings should not be scheduled Sep - Dec. Your girlfriend needs new friends - real friends that is.
If you attend the wedding you are only encouraging others to get married during the wrong season. The message that such inconsideration will not be tolerated must be sent!

My bad. I saw someone else post something about going to the union near campus and assumed it was streets near LSU's campus.

My friend is in the same situation. His g/f's friend is getting married the day of the Bama game. I called the guy(groom) out on it and he said when they originally picked the date, the weekend was open. He's full of shite.

C'mon, man. Lift up your skirt, grab your balls, and bail on the wedding.
How can you NOT get out of this? Are you seriously getting railroaded into going to your GF's friend's wedding. I wouldn't go to a buddy's wedding if I was in the same situation. Unless your GF's name is Charlize Theron, I'd take the risk that she'd get over it. I know you said you're getting sexed on a regular basis, how long would she really cut you off for...?
Posted on 10/8/08 at 2:09 pm to DanglingFury
Dude seriously....no offence but its fricked up that your girlfriend would expect you to go to that. She is not a keeper.
I spents half my sister-in-laws wedding in a hotel bar watching one of the 82 regular season Hornets games. If it would have been LSU Florida I wouldn't have even been there. My wife wouldn't have cared less and probably would have skipped it too. Find a new girlfriend.
