1. Can Frey (with pretty good speed for a big guy) not play 3rd base in place for Braswell? I get Reaves is a liability but we saw Tommy White (a bigger guy) hold down third base well.

2. Who is the most experienced guy on the mound that will throw strikes besides our top 4 because we may need them tonight in a high pressure situation (I have to think that is what happened to our pen lastnight, not used to the pressure of post season.)

3. After 2 small ball masterpieces in our first games why did we go back to swinging like we are trying to hit the ball 500 feet every at bat? Do you think we go back to small ball tonight and attempt more bunts, steals, and hit & runs?

I'm just amazed that a pitcher playing at a program like LSU can throw pitches leading to 3 walks in a row at this point in the season.

With a year of prep and practice, maybe. But Frey is a DH who used to play catcher and plays a little outfield. In a recent interview on Mahtook, he made it sound like he enjoys working on his batting and not so much on his fielding. I don't know if that means he doesn't work on it or just loves hitting. Either way, third base is not easy to just pick up and do overnight.

1. You aren't putting someone at 3rd base in an elimination game that hasn't played there all year

2. Jay doesn't plan on pitching anyone other than Evans, Cowan, and Eyanson tonight. So buckle in if one is a little wild. There aren't better options to go to

3. Hopefully

No I totally get that, Bear was a disaster at third. But putting Frey in the field gives you another decent at bat for a team that left bases loaded in back to back innings last night

Excellent idea
I’m not sure why the coaching staff never thought of this

We are not moving Jones anywhere. Zero chance

Because the players didn't take the opponent seriously, as evidenced by the goofing around in the dugout. They thought they'd just mash these scrub pitchers and instead got made to look like fools.

Frey isn’t an infielder and isn’t going to magically learn to play there. Putting Frey in the Field takes Brown or Curiel off of it, and those are the first two up for a DH spot if they aren’t in the field.

So, you’re essentially asking for the same lineup with significantly worse defense.

I’d bet that we see a LH pitcher at some point tonight but that’s just me

Dugas wasnt an infielder either, these kids have been catching ground balls since 5 years old my point was to move Frey to third and replace Bras not take Curiel or Brown out

You're not changing out third unless it's reaves. Tonight is simple. execute the pitches/don't walk guys and stop bailing them out at the plate.

Technically yes, but practically no.

depends on who you think our top 4 are.

But we have Evans and Cowan tonight who are 2/4 best pitchers as far as k/bb ratio.

After that it’s a bit of a crap shoot.

Ware has been really good at times and he’s been a walk machine at times.

Schmidt is an interesting option

SEC #s: 2 IP, 1k 11 BB

Non SEC #s: 29.2 IP 40 k 9 BB.

Wrong. Dugas was a MIF coming in and early in his career.

Thinking Frey can just take over at 3B is legitimately fricking stupid.

Well on Freys perfect game profile from high school they have him listed as C/1B, 3B, RHP so he definitely has experience playing 3rd

Yes we could see a Primeaux matchup

Hopefully we stay with the other 3 instead

It also says he has experience pitching. Maybe we should let him eat some innings in the post season too?

So you’re saying stick with Braswells .208 average in the lineup?
