This does nothing for Baton Rouge and the area. Big money is diverted to other areas out of state instead of right here in Baton Rouge and the hometown of the opposing university.
With the liklihood of playing Wisconsin in Houston and then at Lambeau Field, neither Baton Rouge nor Madison, WI will benefit from the huge games.
Why is LSU and other major universities so okay with doing this? Seems like they'd want to help the local areas. If we're going to travel to Wisconsin and they're going to travel to Texas, they may as well travel to Baton Rouge and us to Madison anyway. I just don't get it and I think it's an example of the university admin simply not having Baton Rouge, the town that has opened its wallets to LSU over the past umpteen years, in their best interests. If we're going to play each other with a "home and home", make it a damn HOME AND HOME.

Yes, I'm mad.

College football isn't a charity for the surrounding community bud.

Pretty sure LSU does more for BR than BR does for LSU.

Well what do you want, more home games or games against good OOC schools? Because you can't have both

They do it cause they can.

At least they didn't fill the schedule with nothing but cupcakes.

I'm against it as well, but not because I think LSU has a duty to pump up BR's economy because they don't. My issue is that I feel that LSU owes it to the season ticket holders to play some quality OOC opponents in Tiger Stadium. However, I realize that LSU makes more money doing these neutral site games than they would from a home and home, and that money helps LSU compete.

LSU doesn't owe a damn thing to BR. Does the OP think LSU Athletics is a little Mom & Pop store or something?

Did you mean to say that to me? I'm well aware LSU doesn't give a shite about my opinion.

You are off your rocker. LSU has done more for BR than any university does for any other city.

That's not how "communities" work bub. The growth of business and the university itself, should go hand in hand. occasional big neutral site games are fine, but, it's becoming a yearly money grab and NOT conducive to the business community {which supports ALL of LSU year-round} not to mention the "degrading" of the home schedule !
IF, LSU stands to gain 3-4 million from a neutral site game...just HOW much is "gained/spent" during a big home game weekend ?

To be fair, LSU is Louisiana State University and there is no way LSU has done more for the state than the state ie its people, have done for it. Without the tax money and the citizens of this state there wouldn't be an LSU nor a football team with its name affixed to it.

They do go hand in hand bub lol. BR would be nothing without LSU. One big neutral site game a year is fine. It's LSU's choice. They don't owe BR anything.

And LSU wouldn't exist without the taxation bills that come from the state government in Baton Rouge. Something tells me that is why its located there, but I'm just spitballing.
