re: I don't understand why there is any debate regarding Burrow

Exactly, not to mention all the hype we’ve heard about Brennan the past 2 years.
He looked like just another average QB. I wasn't expecting him to come in and dominate, but I was looking for the "it" factor and some extreme arm talent. I just didn't see it.
And now that he can't beat out McMillan and Narcisse - well, that tells me all I need to know.

As long as we don't straight up promise him the starting job, I see no reason not to bring him in. I see no way that he doesn't make it a better competition which the whole team would benefit from.

It does beg the question that if the staff is so sold on one of the three quarterbacks currently on the roster being capable of leading this team, why jump into the ring for a shot at bringing in a new, unproven guy at this late date?
Kinda increases my concerns for the coming yr.

OMG, drama queen much?
what if we always thought like that. I guess we shouldn't have taken Giles or Fehoka because ALL the other WR's and DT's could have gotton upset and left the team?

I think Orgeron promises him playing time. We're desperate.

That's why there is debate. Needs to be a little more sure than that.

I think some of you guys just imagine things.
There is really little debate as to weather we should be recruiting him. Consensus, even from people like me who don’t like Ed, think it’s a good idea to bring him in if we can.
My question is simply how good is this guy really? He can’t get in the field at Ohio State. He had a great spring game in 2016, but all LSU fans know that spring games are fools gold.
Some of you act like this kids gonna come in and instantly we are in the playoffs. I’d just like to see him in real game action before I buy in.

I agree that we bring anyone who might help LSU. My issue is with the people acting like he is some All-American with titles under his belt.
He's a career backup who will have to come in and learn a whole new system in two months.
Can he do that AND beat three guys with a 6-month headstart? Possible, but not likely.
Take him, yes, but don't expect him to come in and set the world on fire.
Who? is acting like he is an All America?
Career backup. Lee, JJ, Flynn, Etling, Mett, Who in that group started as a freshman and who was a career backup?
Did the freshman starters make and NFL Roster? Please explain your attack on career backups.
None of our young QBs have started agame but so we don't know who will earn the start. We do know that we don't have an experienced QB. One more quality prospect on the roster will at least give us a better chance at success.

Several people.
One guy even said yesterday that we are an SEC title contender the day he gets on campus.
Based on what exactly??

Because we want to see LSU recruit and develop a QB from freshman to quality starter. That hasn't happened since Flynn, except for Lee's senior campaign.

He’s not coming here unless O promises him the starting position. Why would he transfer to LSU if there was anyway he would just be the backup. He has to play now if he thinks he can play at the next level.. or he’s not coming.

Could it be we have an idiot for a head coach. I mean he has handled the QB situation and the offense in general so outstandingly since he has been at LSU and quite frankly evervwhere else he has been. It’s been a O shite show everywhere he goes. Prove me wrong or here we go again.

t's a chess match. The 3 QB's battling for starter will get their feelings hurt and 1 or 2 or even all 3 could make the decision and leave. Then there would be only 1 QB in Burrow and he could leave for the NFL after 1 season. Or a loss or 2 of the qb's before Burrow makes a decision to sign then there would real trouble.
Holy speculation Batman!!!
Burrow hasn't committed. He may or may not.
If there is attrition resulting from him coming here then so be it. Brennan and Narcisse both knew they would be competing against each other when they decided on LSU. Further they had every reasonable expectation that LSU would land another quarterback this past year. Would there be all this hand-wringing if LSU had landed a 5* QB this past recruiting cycle?
McMillan should have never had a reasonable expectation of starting when he committed. The fact that he's in a position to start says a lot about his current competition.
If they're scared they should get a dog.

Don't know if he has to be promised starter but he's going to be promised playing time for certain.

Well hell. I want that too.
But, that really is unrelated to my OP. Either the guy can potentially help or not. If he can, you try and get him and, well..........we haven't been developing QBs.

There isn't a debate. If the coaches think Burreaux can help LSU and Burreaux feels LSU is the place for him , then there is a great chance he will come here. No debate about it, it is literally that simple.

He could have had "playing time" at OSU. He wants to be a starting QB. That's why he's transferring. Otherwise, he stays at OSU and competes for playing time. Right now he's the college equivalent of a free agent. He only has two years of eligibility left and he's going to sign with the place that gives him what he wants, the starting job. O may say all the right things to the fans and media about "competition", but the kid isn't coming unless he has been "promised" to be the starter. He can go several places and "compete" for the job. But I doubt that's what he's looking to do. He obviously couldn't be the starter at OSU. He wants to go to a place where he can.
