That was 31 points scored off of 252 total yards of offense. They capitalized on 2 turnovers. That game was a cripple fight with a deceptively lopsided score

Have you seen our defense?

To add to our troubles, our best DT is out for the season, and we a running game resembling a funeral march and this game is ripe for severe disappointment.

I may not have enough bourbon for this one.

Our defense played great against a Lincoln Riley offense that looks to be one of the best in the country. Then on the following week allowed 2 successful drives and a busted assignment wildcat touchdown against a title contending FCS school, on 3 of their first 5 drives. After that it was fumble, punts, and turnover on downs.

Also, I don't understand why people are absolutely obsessed with us having an up the middle power run game. We don't need it. We are great at throwing the ball, and have track star recievers that can take sweeps, tosses, and screens for 5-10yds every time they touch the ball. Play to our strengths.

We are gonna blow out USCe.

South Carolina still took care of business and piss pounded a SEC team on the road.

I’m not sure how good or how bad Kentucky is, but SC looked strong in the trenches vs Kentucky.

I have zero reason to believe this game won’t be a dogfight for LSU. Plus the 11am kickoff excuse, I wouldn’t be shocked if LSU lost.

they are? Because they went 6-5 last year, but made it to the FCS playoffs, where they lost 35-0 in the first round.

In fairness ESPN also has Arky with a 60 percent chance to beat us so I would be worried about most SEC games on schedule.

UK’s QB had a 1.2 QBR… never seen one that bad. Can you have a negative rating?

I thought LSU would be a much better team by now

I’m still not sold on LSU being as bad as we saw Saturday. USCw is better than Nicholls State and we had that game won. Honestly with even SLIGHTLY better play calling, even with the penalties, we win that game. And despite the miserable play calling, had we not have had that penalty from Lacy we may still have won.

Bama / USF was on “UPSET ALERT” on ESPN for half an hour until the last few minutes of the 4th. It could be that both Bama and LSU suck, but it could also just mean, sometimes teams phone it in for Nicholls State. Playing a football game is a ball buster and they might have thought it was going to be an easy night.

Nussmeier is going to have to go into overdrive and play up to his talent level. Dude is talented. Scheming has to help him out though. If I had ONE thing that stood out that I miss from the Burrow days, it’s that Nuss needs to know when and where to run. He missed a few easy 10 yard runs against Nicholls that Burrow would’ve jumped on. Burrow and Nuss aren’t JD fast (no one is) but they are still fast, no reason Nuss can’t do what Burrow did for us. He’s got the physical ability, maybe even moreso.

Last thing I’ll say is on here I see a lot of “Nuss ain’t it.” Nuss is not the problem. I KNEW people were gonna start saying this shite because he’s not JD or Burrow. NO ONE is JD or Burrow, though. Most national championship winning QB’s aren’t those guys. You can win without them.

TL;DR - I’m trying to think of LSU as the team I saw in the USCw game with better play calling and without the crucial 15 yard penalties, rather than against Nicholls.

I don't think it's about us being "bad", but I think it's about the fact that we still have too many question marks on both sides of the ball, and USCe has proven now that they are not even close to the push-over that we thought they were. If we figure out some of these question marks in practice this week, I still believe we win by 7-13 points. Vegas apparently agrees, which makes me feel a bit better.

I feel the exact same way. Our team looks very vulnerable right now - middle of the pack SEC team.

I think calling us a mediocre team would be being over generous

That usc team is legit. Lsu and usc battled for the win. Don't let the game against Nicholls fool you.

Now lsu does have some problems that need to be fixed. Some things just aren't going to get fixed this yr imo. Like safety, star, and probably corner. Even if you play the young guys over sage, burns, and Gilbert there will be growing pains.

“Upset” it’s a great win bc they blow them out but Kentucky is objectively the worst team in the SEC it’s not an upset
