LSU from what I have seen is poor tackling team. Players get in position to make plays and instead of wrapping up go for a big hit or a strip. I think if they fix that it will improve them drastically.

the staff spent 3 hours dissecting 4 plays, they will never let that happen again... they will have a plan for it.. and no one else has a QB that can do that... except maybe fields and he isnt that fast... I have faith in Aranda... the next two games D will ball out... I just hope they are out for Blood vs TAMU

That's pretty much what we (fans) were saying after Texas shredded us in the 2nd half. We all know Bama has generational talent on O. But then UF . . . and now OM.

It's not the talent on the other teams that's our issue. And it's not the lack of talent on our side either.

I trust y'all can do the math from here.

I really think the defense issues was schematic against Ole Miss
Players taking bad angles and players out of position to defend it.

Go back to the Ga Southern game who obviously doesn't have the athletes Ole Miss has but they run a similar offense with a lot of misdirection. LSU was prepared for that one and it showed.

You are coming off a game against Bama, a team you haven't beaten in eight years. You have a week to prepare for Ole Miss and the Rich Rod offense that has given teams fits for years. It was a letdown game that LSU actually came out and dominated the first half. It was a flat second half that got LSU. Two straight road games, now you get to come home for two home home games.
I like our chances.

Do we really need to? I mean, are we going to face another Ole Miss and Plumlee before the season is over?

It's not really hard to fix. Just prepare the team as Aranda did for the Georgia Southern game. As Plumlee and those other running backs are essentially like a triple-option team.

Had LSU been prepared to face a triple-option team Saturday night, Plumlee and company would have been held in check.

Yeah I’m sure y’all know more about defense than O, Aranda, Raymond and staff lol. I really hope O reads this board so he will know what to do with the defense the rest of the season.

It's a chat board. Lighten up, Francis...

How do you excuse the performance against UF?

Plumlee will not survive in the SEC if they continue to run him that much over the next couple of years.

We are 8 of 21 on 4th downs. 7th in opponent attempts on 4th down at 21.

OSU is 6 of 13. 39th in Opp attempts.

Clem is 8 or 19. 20th.

4th down really doesn't affect us in that way.

Threads like this are entertaining but, at the same time, embarrassing. It’s fun to read all the amateurish second guessing from armchair coaches. But then you realize, some of them buy their own bullshite. They think they’re actually on to something. You know, they think they know what they’re talking about. And that’s embarrassing.

Agree. Worst tackling LSU football team I have ever watched. I suspect it's a result of their practices. Coaches could fix it if they wanted to. I don't think they're committed to fixing it as much as they are committed to going easy on guys in practice so as not to sustain injuries / allow guys to heal from injuries.

How about this!?

BREAK DOWN AND TACKLE RATHER THAN GO FOR HIGHLIGHT REEL KILL SHOTS WHEN AHEAD BY A COUPLE SCORES. TACKLE FOR 4 quarters

just because a coach wears our colors doesn’t mean they’re automatically a competent coach. Look, I love our staff, but they’re not automatically elite just because they wear P&G.

There have been plenty of poor coaches that have been here over the years. You’ve got to judge each one individually, without emotion.

so not a single person on this board can question any of our coaches, based on observable data?

Who, then, can question our coaches’ performance?

We don’t need to fix the defense. The defense is fine where they’re at because they play really good in the first half, and by halftime, we’re usually up by double digits and we don’t need to our defense to play lights out in the second half (not saying that they don’t try in the second half, they’re just isn’t as much pressure on them in the second half).

We could definitely fix some little things though, like better angles, tackling, getting more pressure on the QB, and stuff like that

Practice assignments without the ball in the offenses hands or on the field. Make them work to fill their assigned gaps and to get lined up correctly.

This is a real thing.

But I would bet we are coaching in a panic, throwing too much at the kids and over preparing them.

I know it sounds crazy but I actually thought that is what hurt Miles and his offense, I think he over complicated things in an effort to fix, so as the time came execution went to shite (yes even on running plays you have to execute)

I think we should go back to basic assignment defense, contain on the edges, fill the gaps with Line backers and quit allowing ball carriers to get 6-10 yards down the field and depend on an open field tackle from one of our DBs.

If we are burnt, so be it, but quit just giving it to them.

Except when we play a very good defensive team like UGA which can slow us down and has offensive playmakers like Swift. Auburn showed us this offense can definitely be slowed down, and we lose to UGA if the defense plays soft and undisciplined like it did on Saturday.

Ohio State would possibly murder us. They are stupid talented and very well coached, and I honestly think that they would deserve to be double digit favorites on a neutral site right now with how out of sorts the defense is. Hopefully that can get rectified.

Wow so you're telling me all the 'experts' on here are wrong about saying Aranda sucks and should be fired? I can't believe you have such a brave (sane) stance.
