I will try to keep the 0 bashing to a minimum in this thread, but the QB situation is concerning. Myles Brennan and Narcisse are so completely different in play style, physique, and skillset. There still does not appear to be an offensive style that we want to run, except it looks like we may be going more from the gun. This would seem to favor McMillan and Narcisse. Running Brennan will end up getting him in a full-body cast against the SEC defenses. I do not see how you can possibly keep all 3 happy. They all want to play significant minutes, and Brennan and Narcisse were both high-caliber recruits. I think it's reasonable to let the QB competition carry out into the early part of the season if necessary, similar to how Hurts took Bama's job in the first game after Barnett was benched in his great performance against USC.

I am currently skeptical, and I have reason to be due to the bad/questionable things that happened under O's watch last season.

I fully expect the critics to be out in full force this season, possibly in the middle of September calling for Joe, Ed, and Ensminger's heads after a possible 1-2 start after Sept 16.

You mean like it's been since '08.

also throwing arm

i'm curious how they are developing the playbook with a QB competition with 2 lefties and 1 righty

i guess the 2 lefties being mobile means they can kind of separate packages/concepts, but it's just strange

It is unbelievable how a major college program like LSU cannot find a good QB after a decade. Anthony Jennings should have never set foot on this campus.

the saddest part of his career was all the absurd hype he got as a freshman

then he threw up a prayer against arky that was answered and the hype train was unbelievable

even the media jumped in

quote:

Those include pinpoint passing, instinctual rushing when it's needed and leadership in the clutch. Oh, and much like Mettenberger, he has a cannon for an arm. LSU is in a good spot with Jennings as its starter and could retool instead of rebuild once Mettenberger graduates.

If he finally reaches his potential, Heisman hype and Davey O'Brien Awards wouldn't be out of the question.

I am sick of LSU just taking deep shots

I wish we had a QB who could complete short to mid range passes. Some nice timing routes and even hit the rbd in the flats.

If anyone were to leave, I'm guessing it would be McMillan to play at a smaller school
Why would he leave now with his spring game performance? At a minimum, even if you don't win the job, you are one play from having to play if injury should occur and based on what I saw I think two will get significant time in 2018.

Does the shotgun not favor Brees, Brady, and Wentz?

You guys sometimes can’t see the forest because of the trees.

Brennan played out of shotgun almost exclusively in HS so that isn't a factor. He does; however, need better pass protection to be effective and Chaisson was free off the edge on almost every play.

Brennan's HS film:

The fact that no one has separated themselves this spring means all 3 will likely stay and fight it out in the fall which means no one will transfer yet. The negative is that we don't have a guy that's proven his ability to seize the job. Hopefully someone pours it on in the fall, but who knows.

That's what they're trying to do it and cannot be done, at least not to the benefit of the team.

That may have been the case early on, but just based off of the spring game, who has separated themselves from the rest?

One big problem is O never appeared to have a solid plan on what type of offense he wanted to run after getting named HC. His desires of what type of offense he wants has been all over the place.

Their staying put for 2018. I believe McMillan will start, as he is the most experienced, and Narcisse, eminently capable but rather green, with backup.

Myles Brennan has peaked and has no place in the QB rotation, save *gasp* injurys. And he's not good enough to transfer to another Power 5 program, only to a lesser conference (c.f. Andrew Hatch to Harvard).

It was certainly not a great game for Brennan, but he performed above the others in previous spring games when running with the 1's. He probably got the worst pass protection of the 3 Saturday and he's the least elusive. I didn't really believe the staff when they initially said it was a 3 way race, but after that game I do. McMillan was the better QB on Saturday though.

You know the answer to this

LSU is just flying by the seat of their pants. An OC that hasnt coordinated in 2 decades, a HC that has a horrible resume, and 3 QBs who haven't been in a cohesive offensive system since they first stepped foot on campus. And the 2 that now look like have been passed up, are the ones most likely to transfer

What are you prattling on about now?

Brennan took more snaps last year as a freshman than McMillan has in his whole career.
