They were just gunning for Wade. I think it was the last gasp effort of the NCAA to stay relevant. Wade did get a show cause but it was minimal after he had already sat out a year.

Yes Wade did behave stupidly. But all we had to do was suspended him for a while and maybe take a 1yr postseason ban instead of the indefinite one we’re now on.

Scott did the right thing as he has done all through his career as AD.
NCAA has clubbed Wade, Vadal&Funes, OBJ post NC cash thrown at players together into a "lack of institutional controll".
We had to get rid of Wade to protect the football program that is almost always at the top of the SEC.
If the football program went into a real probation and got docked with a post season ban and scholarship reductions aka Miami (early 90s), Bama (early 2000s), USC ( late 2000s) we would be in big trouble. Wade was not worth that.
You guys think Wade is like Nick Saban or Skip Bertman or some of the other great coaches that have come our way. He is not. NONE of those great coaches cheated their way to success....NONE. They won it in the field.
Scott hired Kim Mulkey and look where WBB is, he hires Jay Johnson and he has brought home a Natty, Brian Kelly has restored a program broken by our home town fan favorite. Each has been a quality hire.
Scott's hands were tied when he hired McMahon. When he hired McMahon, we were hit with 15 level one infraction in basketball alone, on probation and awaiting penalities. Nooooo 1/2 of a SEC calibre coach would come to a school with not that strong a winning tradition and looking down the barrel of a cannon. Wade got us there single handedly.....and even after being caught on tape....kept denying everything till the NCAA passed judgement.
Scott does not go to the Murray States to get coaches....he hires already highly successfully coaches.
Also for Kelly's detractors, let me explain... If Ed Orgeron was allowed to continue for two more years or we hired Curly Hallman or Gerry Dinardo or Mike Archer, we would be going 0-8 in today's SEC with the tranfer portal and NIL chipping away at our recruiting advantage.
So let us thank God for Scott Woodward and his administration as AD.

Lol that some of yall actually believe this. WW never accomplished anything of note at LSU and he was never going to get more talent than he’d already accumulated on some of his teams
