While he was good enough for Bama (in general), he had his struggles throwing the ball.
I guess that depends on how you define "struggle."

He will start immediately with Austin Kendall gone and no one else to really push him. They will probably play Spencer Rattler 4 games and then keep his redshirt.

What does this have to do with LSU?

Nothing officially, but it is interesting to LSU (and college) fans.

From the LSU angle- Bama loses at least 1 game this year without Hurts, maybe more next season. His mobility cost us in the past. This makes Bama a little less dangerous, thus making LSU a little more able to compete.

From the overall college perspective, good for Hurts. He's currently probably an undrafted free agent or late rd pick as an athlete. Going to OU, where the past 2 QBs have been developed into Heisman winners, this gives him a chance to similarly develop. We already know he has the right attitude, now he can get the best possible chance to become a viable QB for the draft.

terrible passer going to a pass-happy league. Interesting.

Yeah, it will also be interesting to see what a miracle worker Lincoln Riley is.

If Hurts improves dramatically, Riley's going to have 20 NFL teams calling him

I don't care what his stats show, he's not a good passer. A QB for Bama, who has a significant talent edge in 99% of their games should have better numbers. He doesn't pass the eyeball test imo.

In 2 games against LSU he was 22/43 (51%) 290yds 1TD 1INT. He was benched in the championship game because he couldn't move the ball. He's not a good QB. He's a RB that plays QB.
