HP Long was originally the student Union and the rec center. It had a post office, ballroom, pool, racket ball courts, etc.

When my grandfather was at LSU he had the Gym Armory and Long Field House.

When my mom was at LSU she had the Long Field House and Student Union.

When I was at LSU I had the Student Union and UREC.

I used to watch Press and Pete Maravich along with the varsity practice in that building. Press would have Pete practice blin passes and those between his legs over and over

Went check it out one night in 2014 and got to visit the LSU jail soon after. I was a bit let down on how they had the jail decorated. I was thinking it would be more festive and have team spirit. But nope. Just white walls and plexy glass. Had to do a bunch of “life choices” classes to get that dismissed.

That pool is where I learned to swim.

This is a waste of time and money. They should scrape and rebuild. We’re not in the 1920’s anymore. A brand new building would serve the campus better.

Cool to see this is finally happening. Saw the plans for this years ago and I had doubts that it would ever come true.

Same here. Love the old pics of the field house with the pool packed with students. Good to see it will be renovated and not torn down.

My Father was enrolled on G.I. Bill. We lived in the "Hutments" on Nickelson and every afternoon my Mom would walk me across that big field to check the mail at the Post Office. Special days I would get an ice cream cone. This was 1947-49. I was 3-6 years old. Swam in pool almost every day during summer.

Imagine looking at such a beautiful historical building and thinking it’s probably best we demolish it what the hell is wrong with some of you
