Like, how did they think the ball bounced straight up into the air and backwards if it hit the fricking fence?

Our knowledge as a fan base is growing. Earlier this season someone tried to tell us the umps ruled a ground rule double because the ball hit the top of the wall in the air and bounced over. I don't think I've seen that in this thread yet.

Still can't believe the ump doesn't understand simple physics

Was playing flag football, it was the semifinals of the playoffs, we were up by 6 towards the end of the game. I was one of the rushers on defense, and I tipped the ball after it left the QBs hand. The ball went 20 yards downfield, but was a dead duck. We intercepted and ran it back for a TD. It got called back, b/c the rule is you can't touch the ball while it's in the QBs hand. They ended up scoring on that possession and winning the game.

My argument with the ref was that of simple physics as well. If I had hit the ball while in the QBs hand, it would have gone to the side or backwards, not 20 yards downfield. Simple logic, but he obviously didn't get it.

Was driving and listening to Jim make the call and all he kept repeating over and over was "the yellow line means nothing (as for as being a home run or not) and if it stays in the park it doesn't matter if it hits above the yellow line if it stays in the park it's not a homer. Now that I see the replay and hear all this info we had no clue about listening to Hawthorne it just makes you shake your head.

I was not far from it. It hit the top of the yellow pad, which is on the TOP of the wall. It bounced straight up and back onto the field.

1st off, wasn't trying to brag. 2nd, I am far from fat and actually wish I could gain some weight. I played there b/c I was quick and able to put pressure on the QB if not get a sack.

I don't think so. It hit the top of the field screen's frame. The yellow pad is soft. No way it would bounce up so high.

Common sense should have dictated those rolling cages be moved away from the fence.

It obviously hit the metal railing of the screen. No way that bounced off the wall that hard.

This is accurate. I was on the front row of the right field bleachers and the ball hit the corner of the fence on the yellow and bounced straight up. It did not hit the screen behind the fence.
