Serious question because I have trouble even remembering last week... Did we have players running their mouths the week before? Or do you mean the fans or who?
Guice in his postgame interview on the field at Arkansas said something about Florida being scared. Fournette seemed to instigate a fight with Florida players and coaching personnel before the game.

Didn't Guice say in an interview "they can't run from us no more"?

There should be a standard to be the head coach of LSU. Success as a coordinator should be the minimum requirement. Success as a head coach at power 5 school is preferred.
It's not about Coach O, it's about the hiring process. I would feel the same about anyone hired with Coach O's experience.
All I can do now is hope he has Swinney-like success.

6-2 and a bowl
Win isn't bad by any means

Bama on the other hand, was an absolutely horrible game plan in the one game of the year that still meant something. we had known for 5 years that that gameplan would not beat them, yet we trot it out there just like Les would have. Aranda gives the performance of a lifetime, while the rest of the coaches and schemes shat the bed. We should've beat that team.
The performance of the defense made that loss SUCH a bitter pill to swallow. However, I have a hard time faulting him for it. When we had the ball the game was an absolute mismatch on the line of scrimmage. There essentially wasn't shite we could do about it. Maybe afer a whole offseason and two months of the season in a new scheme we'll have more success this November. Who knows?

The red flag I saw in that game is Fournette talking O into letting him play.
O did not look out for the team in that scenario and I believe it cost us the game and opened the door for players to argue playing time, etc.
Winning the game would still throw up the same red flag.

For someone who prides himself on high energy, the team could have not come out more flat in a game where there were a million reasons to be motivated.
Fair point. My reply would be that even the best teams and coaches have games like that in which the lack of emotion is a mystery. At the point where it becomes obvious that the game is a dangerous dogfight, the bottom line is getting out with the win. The team was absolutely in position to get that done on a few different occasions. It just didn't happen unfortunately.

Wishful thinking apparently but I had really hoped that by now everybody would be on the same page in terms of looking ahead to the season and judging him by the on-field results.
One can simultaneously feel his hire was an error AND, look ahead to the season and judge by his on-field results.
As for the UF question. Well, I mean. We didn't beat UF. That's a pretty bad loss looking back.
No coach should be judged on one game though. He'll either prove those of us who were concerned wrong, or he won't.
I hope it's the former.

Maybe thats because it was one of Les's LSU squads that Orgeron had control of for just a couple weeks before that game

WTF??? Well, that doesn't really have anything to do with my question. But thanks. I guess.

Yep. I remember that now. Thanks.

This is something I've heard elsewhere as well that I don't understand. The scuffle started with DBs jawing at each other and he got involved toward the end.

I think you're right and that's the more accurate quote.

I'm not excited about the hire but I will give him a chance.

That's when he asked O to play him.

I didn't blame the Florida loss on O. I blamed that one on the players. We dominated the game except for the errors and even at the end, we marched down the field and then made another last minute stupid error that prevented us from winning. That one just was not in the cards, although LSU was clearly the better team. Had we played Florida nine more times last season, LSU would have won every one of them.

He's the Cajun Les Miles. Meaning we're still discussing if we would have won.

no one really knows how good of a coach O is going to be and winning that game might have tempered some of the negative attitudes toward him.
BUT, coach O will always be hated by some even if he wins the Natty; just like Miles was always hated by some. winning the Natty just shut those people up for a short time and they waited until the team struggled at a later date.
unless he has Saban like success (which only Saban has had at Bama) his Ole Miss record and his accent will be used against him EVERY time the team loses. that accent has some worrying about what others think and are actually embarrassed by it (the waterboy syndrome). the haters just changed from those that hated Miles yankee accent to those that loathe a Cajun accent.
to me, he's the underdog and i'm pulling for him.

Some of you people are such drama queens.

Had O won the UF game last year Alleva would come down to carry him on his shoulder and said "F##k Fisher and Herman. We found a coach". We would then never knew if O had a killer binder.
