There is no such thing.
LSU fans have been talking about vanilla this vanilla that for a damn decade
We will run our offense. What you see against Georgia Southern will be what you see against Texas.
I expect a whole shite load of disappointment. Not because it is bad, but nothing can live up to the expectations of our fans.

quote:but this was the Les Miles approach. Get a (small) lead, then go into "protection mode" and just run clock.
Run your stuff until the game is secured. Then just run base plays to run out the clock.
When you take your foot off the gas, it saps all your momentum and it's hard to get it back. When we go to a softer defense, it gives the opponent a chance to creep back into the game. We saw it so many times with Les.
Now sure, there's a time to scale back and run clock, but my concern is when the coach believes is the right time. Being up 21-0 late third quarter isn't the time. Keep the pedal to the metal, until late in the 4th quarter and we're up 3-4 scores. Short of that - keep trying to score.
And you know the players don't like being handcuffed. They want to play, and score every time they touch the ball. Let 'em loose.

I hope very vanilla so our defense can get a few stops. That's our kind of game. We're not coming to Baton Rouge for just a check.

Considering it’s brand new and they are going to want to hammer down some of the new elements, I’d hope not very.

quote:Miles hero was Bo Schembechler. Bo wouldn't know a modern offense if it bit him in the arse. Bo, like Miles, believes in stupid shite like hide your game plan, which is so 1970's. Thank God Miles is gone.
If we go vanilla it will show that we still are hanging on to the same ole stupid philosophys we had under Miles of "not showing the offense" which is so f'ing retarded

Really? 60? I think not. We fully expect a win. We might eventually lose. But we go in each game knowing we are good enough to beat ANY opponent. If y'all do win, I can promise you won't put 60 on us- hell Alabama couldn't even do that. We ran through them like sh$$ through a tin horn. They just could not stop us. But in the end, they got us.

As far as 60 points, we’re not bringing a slouchy defense. That was the old GS. Out score’em was out philosophy. We’ve still got a potent enough offense to score points, but we’re more of a ball control, play sound defense, make the other team screw up

The Georgia Southern defense will feel right at home playing against a Vanilla offense since fans of most other teams call Georgia Southern offense a high school offense.

It won't be vanilla, but it will be vanilla bean...

Might not mean too much. The Georgia Southern University defense was the only defense in the country during 2018 to keep Clemson scoreless in the first quarter. Plus, this game was played at "Death Valley".

I would love for LSU to play the most vanilla, basic offense you can to really show off.
As some have said in the GSU thread your 3rd string offense could beat GSU. I think LSU should play their 3rd string the first half, your 2nd string in the 3rd and your 1st string in the 4th.
This will give your whole offense playing time and lesson the chances of a 1st string player getting injured!

I thought TigerFoot would have something to say about my above post.

"00GTgrad- Citadel made Alabama look bad for a half. Looks like they got over it though...Citadel, well, they’re still Citadel."
If you can remember back when GSU was FCS, under head coach Monken, now at Army, GSU played Bama we made them look bad also. In that year GSU had more yards and put up more points against Bama than any SEC team did that year against BAMA. Bama's head coach made the mistake of putting in their 2nd and third string in the 3rd. In the 4th Bama put their first string offense back in. With under 30 seconds to go with a 1st down on GSUs 10 yard line he went for the TD and got it. He wanted to pad the score.
I do not hold this against Bama. It is up to the defense to stop the opposing offense and if the opposing offense can score than they should!

Hopefully it’ll be spicy/un-vanilla enough for a 29-point victory

This fricking guy.............
As for being vanilla, I hope not. I really don't want on the road at UT to be the first place we open it up and see what we can do.
