I think the media wants you to believe Texas is on the uptick more so than they really are. I think Herman has them moving in the right direction, but they lost a lot from 2018. I expect a regression this year.

I also think Texas believes they are on the uptick more than they really are.

I'm not as confident as a lot of you guys are. That Houston pass happy style offense lends itself to inconsistent yet sometimes acceptional results, making their games very difficult to predict.

The only reason I won't be as upset as I normally would be is because I don't expect us to win that game.

I think this prediction is based on emotion and not anything we've seen in the past. Under this coach, road games are almost always a huge challenge.

It would be a mistake to underestimate any road foe and I hope the team recognizes that.

agreed. Texas has a very good QB returning, have had top 3 recruiting classes, beat both Oklahoma and UGA last year, and we have to play them in Austin.

We can win, but anyone who thinks we'll roll is just a blind homer.

yea, but they've had top 3 recruiting classes the last two years. And they return their very good QB who led them to wins over OU and UGA.

The argument that teams "lost a lot" doesn't really mean much when they've been recruiting at an elite level.

This game won't be easy.

This is the type of game that can set the tone for a huge season ala Virginia Tech back in 07.

I’m maintaining cautious optimism.

[quote]hink this prediction is based on emotion

As usual you're wrong. I've explained my reasoning I'm not sure if you didn't read it or just chose to ignore it.

The Texas defense is taking a huge step back. There are 3 freshman and six sophomores on the two deep. There are only two people with any significant playing time starting. That's the two safety's. The MLB is as freshman. Only two players have over 40 tackles.

Everybody already knows or has a good idea of how LSU'S defense is going to look. Texas number 2 QB is also a freshman so God forbid Ehlinger gets nicked.

Emotion doesn't enter into the equation.

That nasty incident at the Texas A&M game last year soured me on collegiate football. You know Cole Fisher striking Steve Kragthorp (and pacemaker patient) in the chest. That could have been a disaster. Instead of the SEC and the NCAA making a statement and coming down hard on A&M for this violent incident.... nothing happened. Not even a slap of the hand. Rediculous. Plus the SEC decision to allow alcohol in the stands at SEC games. THAT is a receipe for disaster.

Enjoy the brawling in the stands LSU fans....and make sure you cover the ears of your kids.

A L would be very frustrating and put us in a hole nationally for playoff hopes. Not the end of the season, but certainly disappointing.

That’s not even considering the L’s to Mullen, Jimbo, and Herman stuff:

ok, they lost a lot of players and have some inexperienced positions.

They've also had top 3 recruiting classes the last two years. New guys can play very effectively, you know.

Russ, this may be my new favorite word though. That is great. Looks like something my dumb arse would type by accident.

I know that but LSU is catching them early and they've got inexperience at key positions.

You would be wrong. Texas lost a lot of experience last year which is why LSU will be favored. Texas under that coach starts notoriously slow, giving up a ton of points to Maryland of all teams.

Maryland averaged 42 pts a game vs them the last two years early I never the season. They lose a lot from last years squad.

And with Burrow having experiences at Auburn and Florida last year, he shouldn't be affected by being on the road. That goes for most of the team as well.

Eta: also A&M of course as well

And Stingley will be starting for us this season. Are we taking a step back at CB? No? So what you'd be admitting is that a young starter is not necessarily a worse starter.

They're replacing upperclassmen with better players. It would be a mistake to dismiss what they can do because they're young.

This doesn't mean anything that it wouldn't mean for us. We're also in deep shite if Burrow gets hurt.
