I don’t care how good your D is, if they are on the field 3/4 of the game because the O can not sustain a drive, they will wear down!
nope. We gave up 320 yards in the first half. Fatigue is not an issue that early.

And Bama had the ball 58.8% of game time.

The defense played well considering they were without their best player and had a key injury early in the game. Because the o was so bad, they were on the field the whole game and wore down. Still held Bama about 2 TDs under their average

Does Aranda want to be a head coach?

Does he want to check out the NFL?

Does anyone here know what he wants to do? I suppose the answer is no.

What we do know is that he has young kids that are involved, by all accounts his family is thriving here. He is a defensive coach that appears to just want to be a DC.

For a college gig, O doesnt have him too hot and heavy on the recruiting trail. He has complete autonomy on defense. This may not be the case at other schools.

He has the best DB coach in the game of college football, he got his safeties coach.

All signs point to him being completely happy and in a damn good spot. I dont think he is miserable in the least. His reputation continues to be impeccable

And what you described can be said about dozens of coaches who take new jobs every year.

Look I want him to stay and I think he would have been a better or at least safer choice to take over HC than Ed.

But while he may be happy, he is a young really good coach. And no matter how involved his family is in the community guys like him are very rarely content stating in one place.

He needs to show that he is significantly better than Chavis not marginally. Chavis was doing ok with LSU talent too.

I guess dline getting off blocks and making tackles is his fault. Been saying all year he is protecting the back end which is why he doesn’t blitz much. Fulton is not a good cover guy and certainly can’t press cover. It’s not a scheme problem. When you get your arse handed to you on the LOS you’re going to get beat.

Yep. There are only around 40 HEAD COACHES in college football currently making a higher salary than Dave. I don't think he's going anywhere, either.

You dont think he has been approached for head gigs since he was at Wisconsin?

He is at a salary level that cant be matched by mid majors to get his head coaching chops.

People are clamoring for him to be LSUs head coach, but nothing suggests he is interested in the recruiting side of the head mans job. And if we have a regression in talent we will get run out of the stadium in SEC West games.

Aranda's tough to read. I really have no idea what what his goals are.

Chance to finish 10-2 with a New Years Six Bowl. I'm sure he's very dis-satisfied with his job in this pathetic attempt at a football program.

Gawd you people.

Lol he’ll be making more than O by that point.

I mean, he clearly should be, but still.

The one thing we have going for us is that we were so desperate not to lose him few teams will be willing to pay what we are paying him because they have head coaches they pay to do what he does.

How old are his kids? They are the only reason he is still here.

Reminds me of the Chicago Bears a few years back. So great on defense, but they played for 45/60 minutes. Just got worn out.
well Bama only had the ball for 35:18 (58.8% of game time). Nice advantage for them, but hardly extreme.

ETA: and in the first half, when fatigue isn't an issue, we gave up 320 yards.

well that, and the fact that he makes a ton of money and sits smack dab in the middle of one of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country. Has NFL players (and first rounders) all over his defensive roster.

That'll make a coach hang around.

How many more times he he going to bring the house on third down and get torched before fans give him some of the blame? Giving up 600 yards or offense against Alabama and almost 300 yards rushing against Florida which can’t throw the ball. He is the least of lsu s problems but the is blame to go around.

You, sir, are a dumb arse.

Aranda has done more than enough to hand a victory over to our offense, only to have it die a slow, painful death of a thousand punts.

So Alabama had 600 yards of offense. How about the spectacular job he did from a scoring perspective, ya know, the only numbers that decide a winner and loser. With 2 minutes left in the first half, we held an offense that was averaging 40 1st half points this season to 9 points. The only reason Bama was able to get the ball back to score right before half was because our herp and derp offense couldn't get a first down. All we needed was a single first down. What did our juggernaut of an offense do? 3 plays, 1 net yard gained and PUNT and give it back to Bama at midfield.

Aranda, no matter what you say, is not a problem in any way, shape, or form. Is there room for improvement? Always, but there are no problems with what he's done.

Aranda rests in knowing that he is doing an outstanding job. It is recognized and real. His career has a very high trajectory right where he is...

agree... i think he has two more years and then he might get that itch to be a head coach... him seeing his family happy right now keeps him happy... and honestly LSU would go to 3 million in a heartbeat...
