Aggy is not smart enough to pull such a thing off. Even the old "finding him in bed with a dead girl or live boy" routine can't work there. That is an every day occurrence for 95% of Aggy...

He will be forced to hire an OC, costing A&M even more money. He will tinker and take the oxygen out of the OC's lungs. This will prolong him another year, possibly 2 if can eek out 9 wins next year.

Either way, Jimbo wins (via salary or buyout).

The risk is tilted nearly all A&M's way (and LSU's if BK ever goes south). Danger alert, college football. Danger.

A&M has a booster problem.

The boosters want to win, but more than that, they want to have influence. The want to be "part of the program" and they want to have input.

They can raise $85M by 5 pm. But... the boosters are going to want even more input and influence than they have now.

If you cut Jimbo now... the problems are going to get worse, not better.

Aggy getting what they deserve.

Stay with Jimbo despite his monstrous buyout?

He reset the market twice in 5 years. He opened the door to big, longterm deals for HCs and now he's made ADs say "frick that"

Give Jimbo some huge, but reduced, settlement

Giving isn't the problem. the university has 0 leverage in this situation. the university can go to him with an offer and he can tell them to frick off

They have $95 million reasons to slip him a mickey and a hooker, with a paid videographer surreptitiously capturing a "morals clause" violation.

So did Woody play 5-D chess? Got Jimbo to aTm with a huge contract knowing he himself would become LSU's next AD where he could fire CEO, then toy with Jimbo again, causing aTm to give Jimbo an extension, that they now regret. OK, I'll put away the pills.

Jimbo will hire an OC in name only but he's not giving up his offense. It's amazing that he's still defending his coaching.

And any OC with true options will understand this and not take the job. He will have to hire an unproven OC. I would be shocked if he got a big name.

A&M also has a deep culture problem. They do some odd and bizarre stuff and embrace it calling it tradition. Ring day ceremony is a holiday, grown men crying when they lose a ring and form a search party like you wouldn't believe. Then the midnight yell cult is downright scary.

I say give him another year to spin this team around. I'm sure he'll have them back to 8-4 in no time!

Not just the buyout. I know a guy that knows a guy that says several open ended NIL deals will not end well for ATM. They are scrambling tighten up some contracts. It’s ugly in Bryan/CS/Houston.

It won't matter. It should be obvious to anyone the problem is not the coach. I don't think they can be led out of the wilderness. I doubt college station will ever be relevant in football. They can only point to Johnny Football, but the truth is he wanted to play at Texas and there he would have been a d-back. What else have they done? Geaux Tigers

I love the sea lawyers on here
That would cost MORE than $95 MM.

Sure, Jimbo has a contract saying you owe him $95 MM, but just pay him a reduced amount.

If I need an alter it will be ReducedAmount.

Tell you what. Next time you buy a car just give them half the amount they go down to and call it a day. You guys...

Everybody has woken up next to ugly in college after quarter beer night. This would be an entirely different level of nightmare stuff. Suicide-watch material... lol

Hey A&M, I hear there’s a coach on the market with both SEC experience AND a Natty under his belt!

I don’t think aTm fires him this year.

First, Aggieland has a high pain tolerance for formerly promising but currently failing coaches.

Second, even though aTm likes to brag about their money, Jimbo’s pay out is huge. It would be natural to give him one more year and hope for hope.

BUT! They should fire him because in a couple of years Texas and Oklahoma are coming in the SEC and they will stomp a mud hole in a down trodden Aggie recruiting base!
