My stepson actually likes LSU. Has a LSU lamp in his room, but has a freaking huge Leroy Neiman print of Bear Bryant on the wall.

I don't hate any group of 18-22 year olds. I don't hate their coach or their alumni, many of whom are close friends here in Mobile.
I have no respect for those whose entire self-image is tied up in what an amateur (or pro) sport team does. But this applies to any school; there are just more of those in Alabama than most places--a form of entitlement so strong that if I wear an LSU T shirt out in town I get angry looks from people who don't even know me!!
Strange state, where people frequently name their new born son Bryant or Paul Bryant ....Where churches are not a safe place the morning after the Alabama/Auburn game (for half the congregation). Where the majority of fans have never been to Tuscaloosa; where a significant plurality of fans haven't finished high school.
Perspective here has been lost.

How much do you hate Alabama?
As someone else said, if it weren't for their fans, I'd probably like Alabama. Most of their fans are atrociously obnoxious.

my wife who is a bama alum gets over the top dirty looks when we stop in Louisiana just simply on the fact that we have an alabama license plate. girls have thrown drinks on her at games, called her ever name under the sun in Baton Rouge in 2010. Not defending bama fans on some of the crap they pull but LSU fans can be some of the worse I have seen. To simply call bama fans only is completely hypocritical bc lsu fans are worse imo.

I don't hate Alabama.
I used to hate Florida though.

This is why college football is better. NFL doesn't have this kind of hate or passion that college football has. I have an unhealthy hatred of those hands. I hate them.

their alums are not the problem it the backwoods hecks that live in the rural sections of the state, some are around Birmingham LSU has a similar issue with their rotten core.

Don't hate Alabama. Actually respect their traditions and what they accomplished. Overall their fanbase is almost a mirror of us. Tons of passion, tons of tradition and like to party for games. Usually only hate them during the game.

When I lived in Atlanta, I didn't mind Bama at all. I actually rooted for them to beat Texas, because I had great respect for Saban and how far he brought the LSU program.
Then I moved to Birmingham:
Now I look forward to 2 things. Continuing our dominance over them since the year 2000, and the day Saban leaves, and grown men cry like bitches in Alabama.

I don't hate Bama. Going back to the Bear Bryant era, I respect them and want to beat the hell out of them, but I don't hate them. They're good and they know it and seem to have a quiet confidence. They've got good fans and a lot of tradition that's easy to respect.
Other teams like Florida and Auburn are much easier to hate.

You do realize that we don't actually mean we "hate" the players, coaches, or alums. "Hate" has a unique meaning in sports, and it's not real.
Also, you said "perspective has been lost" when comes to college football. Yet you've posted on a football message board over 800 times. Pot? Kettle?

I hate them, more specifically their fan base, more than any other fan base in any sport or anything non related to immediatly impacting my life. Aweful people. Aweful people with no sense of themselves. I can't stand USC, but really it's the media hype for USC more than the team or even the fans.
I intentionally vacationed in Perdito and never spent a dime in the State of Alabama this summer.
