overall rank of last years class #22.
Transfer portal rankings #63
This team has no DAWGS! It can't be argued.
It's a team of mostly mid major guys.
Stop with the "We are so talented."

beg Wade to come back
That will never happen-- Scott Woodward is literally puffed up with "amor propio", pride mixed in with arrogance. He'll never admit he was wrong

But we haven’t made the tournament in years.
"Years"? It's been two years...going on 3. Prior to that LSU made the tournament 3 straight years (would have been 4 if the 2020 tournament wasn't canceled)

my bar for success in bball is tournament basically every year with the occasional run into the sweet 16 every 3-4 years
Why does that have to be the bar? Alabama wasn't a consistent contender...until they found the right HC. Same for Auburn, Tennessee, and Florida. There is ZERO reason LSU couldn't have the same level of success. It just takes finding the right guy and a fanbase that doesn't adhere to this ridiculous notion of "oh well. We're just a football/baseball school, so we really should strive for any level of success in the sport that if even remotely good would generate the second highest revenue of any sport in the department."

Do you not consider 2 going on 3 “years” to be “years”? With what McMahon has given us so far, do you expect the trajectory to change? He’s gone 2-16 and 9-9 in SEC play with a first round NIT exit being his highest achievement. We’ve got posters here saying he “may win” 4-5 SEC games like it’s an accomplishment.
I literally said we should make the tournament every year as a floor. He hasn’t even sniffed it and won’t again this year. I’d love for them to be more competitive and compete for championships, but we are literally beggars right now.

Four of Auburn's six leading scorers are transfers from
Morehead St
FIU
Northwest Florida State College (JUCO)
Alabama-Huntsville (Div. II)
Not only are those mid-majors, two of them aren't even D-1 schools.
The other two are a 4 star freshman and transfer from Georgia Tech.
The overall rank of last year's class? #32
Transfer portal ranking #54.
They have 3 players on their team who were 4 star recruits coming out of HS. For comparison sake this LSU team has 6 (not including Reed) such players.
Auburn is ranked #1 in the nation today. LSU is hoping tomorrow will be the first time they have a lead in the second half of an SEC game all season.

I think I just did make that argument. So please, tell me how little talent LSU has and how the VAST gap between the coaching ability of Pearl and McMahon has little to do with the state of each program. Perhaps LSU does have these DWAGS you refer to. Unfortunately, this is the level of handling they are receiving....

The guy has no argument and keeps going in circles.
He says we don't have talent compared to the SEC. You give him evidence that we have good talent and recruiting rankings comparable to top SEC Schools. Then he says the rankings don't matter. Then it's that they didn't come from power schools. Then it's that they aren't dawgs.
Some players who came from power conferences:
Cam Carter- Kansas St.
Daimion Collins- Kentucky
Derek Fountain- Mississippi State
Honorable Mention:
Dji Bailey- Richmond (The A10 is a quality conference)

A key piece of Duke who is currently #2 in Kenpom is Sion James. I had the privilege of seeing him play at Tulane multiple times. He is currently fourth in minutes on one of the best teams in the country... and where did he come from? That's right, Tulane. A mid major.

Bring back Wade-- affordable and will turn this back around and have us in the NCAA tourney within two seasons.

I think wade would have us in the tournament instantly. these days teams are almost totally new every year. I cant imagine anything stopping wade from bringing in a murder squad of transfers his first year back. he knows the area, knows the game, knows how to pay. he would bring in NBA players like he did before. the next naz reid would be on his way with the quickness

I agree.
You have to remember, Wade only had one year at LSU where the portal was fully functional and commonplace. In that one year he signed a largely unknown 6th man from Cincinnati who had decent numbers as a freshman coming off the bench, but nothing incredibly remarkable. At LSU that guy became a 1st All SEC player and 17th pick in the draft in one season. His name is Tari Eason.
What he did at McNeese last year was nothing short of remarkable. That was a BAD program with zero life. With one set of transfers he goes 30-4, tying the all time record for the biggest single season turnaround in NCAA history.

quote:??? Last year Missouri was 0-16. Are you thinking the year before when there was an NBA 1st rounder and his brother waiting on the roster?
Last year Missouri replaced its entire team with a bunch of D2 players from the new coaches old school.

Wade's roster construction continued to progress. He knew the offense, and continued to try for the defense. Because he used analytics, etc. he was able to identify and coach-up Tari Eason, which some posters here would give him zero credit.
People also refuse to realize that Wade is only 42 years old and was under 40 when he last coached here. In comparison, CoachMc is 46.
I mostly jest in the re-hire CWW threads because it pisses people off - and - it would take a lot to happen... but if it did?!? - I'll be running to the ticket box and I'll buy 10 of you mfrs season tickets.

Wade's tenure was the most consistent enjoyment MBB fans have had in a long time.

This week's AP top 10
Besides the bolded what are the reasons LSU can not compete just like the others? The answer is complete lack of want to. We do not place the ceiling on ourselves in football, women's basketball, baseball, gymnastics, etc. but we chose to in men's basketball.
quote:
1 Auburn
2 Iowa State
3 Duke
4 Alabama
5 Florida
6 Tennessee
7 Marquette
8 Kentucky
9 Kansas
10 Houston

LSU had a higher ranked recruiting class than 7 of these schools btw (Auburn, Iowa State, Florida, Tennessee, Marquette, Kentucky, and Houston)

If only fat Woody would have hired Golden instead of Mccluless, and there are other coaches out like Golden go find one and hire him. Because Mccluless can't coach, can't evaluate talent, has no energy, and is dissolving the men's basketball program into total destruction and disaster!

You are using a coach as an example who is arguably the top Coach in the country, literally a one percenter. To try and compare LSU to what Pearl has built at Auburn is down right comical!
