How many stops does the LSU defense need to make to beat Alabama.

There are about 12 possessions per game.

If we can stop bama 5 times and the 7 possessions they score they score 3 TDs and 4 FGs for a total score of 33 points LSU can sneak out a victory.

LSU 38-33.

They are going to go up and down the field on us, and we'll do the same. Gonna be about TDs vs FGs and avoiding and creating turnovers/penalties.

Not sure which Bama games you watched this year but they don't have this in them.

Unless the db’s magically learn how to play defense, Bama will pretty much do whatever the want on offense. Jayden is going to have to be spectacular in this one

We need two takeaways. Defer the kickoff and score before halftime

Not sure you have seen our games against Arkansas, Mizzou and Ole Miss. we forced 5 punts total in those three games.

I think 5 is the goal every game with this offense. I think also limiting scoring to FGs rather than TD whenever we can help.

LSU had 3 stops vs Ole Miss but they also turned the ball over once. 2 trips were FGs

FSU punted 3 times and turned the ball over once but on one of their punts we fumbled it right back to them. Only 1 trip was a FG

Arkansas was a punt and two pics but we did also turn the ball over once. We did hold them to FG on 4 possessions which is almost like two stops in terms of points left on the field for them.

Summary of what other SEC games have looked like for our D on nonscoring drives other than those that ended the half.

Miss State, 7 punts, one on downs

Auburn 6 punts, one on downs

Mizzou 2 turnovers, 2 punts, 2 missed FG, one on downs

Have we forced 5 punts in a game this year?

If there are 12 possessions in a game, LSU is scoring on 9 of them. 8 of those 9 will likely have to be touchdowns in order for us to have a chance to win.

The delusion that a defense is going to magically show up is setting in. Bama week is upon us.

I’m guilty. I want to beat them that bad.

The other shootout we had was against Ole Miss and if Daniels slides instead of getting slammed, he doesn’t fumble and Ole Miss doesn’t go ahead toward the end. We would’ve won that game had he not fumbled.

Now, ask yourself this… who has the better defense - Bama or Ole Miss?

Just don’t fumble the ball and do what our offense does best and we win this game.
