Honest question.

Tunnel Screen
Razor Screen
Slip Screen
Jailbreak Screen

...whatever they hell they are calling them nowadays. What's our count?

Kely says we are too big and slow on the OL to run em, which is amazing to me, I think we are a great OL, but when you cant get downfield, are you really great?

TE run blocking definitely hasn't been a strength this year either.

I'd like to extend your question to the last 3 seasons

Cliffs from BK press conference yesterday (taken from another poster). I still need to watch, but he touched on this yesterday

quote:

LSU would love to run screens, they just aren't good at it. Hinted that LSU's linemen aren't quick or mobile enough to be super effective at it

-LSU uses flare plays more often as the receivers can block and the linemen aren't involved. They use this as an extension of the outside run game

that is a ridiculously over simplified and dumbed down version of what he said. It even removes all of the actual details he gave on why we don't run them well.

you have to be able to hit all your blocks for those plays to work
they haven't blocked well enough to do them

What's frustrating about this aspect of the offense, a lot of the running plays by design rely on the TE getting a block. The line will have it blocked up and then Taylor will completely whiff.

Mason Taylor has been great here but his blocking leaves a lot to be desired.

Can’t run block, can’t block in space.

Thank God we are the best pass blocking team in all the land.

I think they’ve been pretty overrated since week 1.

Such a good way to get a run game going when you can't run the ball. You'd think with the TEs we have we could get that going but it just doesnt exist in this offense.

no, and LSU hasn't run a real screen, especially on a blitz, which is when it really is effective, this decade. That play requires mobile Olinemen. LSU goes for the big slow road graders, at least that is what our best guess is.

What I want to know is why we don’t call an actual jet sweep with Aaron Anderson or zavion Thomas. We run the jet sweep motion multiple time per game yet we never hand it off. AA and Zavion are tailor made for that shite.

Keep hearing how great they are but to be great I think they should be able to run block. Not sure they have consistently proven that. Chester has been a liability that is limiting performance. Play calling has been odd all year as well.

I know this is hyperbole, but a beautiful screen to Chase was the turning point in the Natty.

Honestly, going back and watching a few past games there have been several runs that just missed a big run because the guard or center couldn't reach the linebacker so he had a free run at the running back in the hole. If the center or guard could have gotten that block then it would have been a huge gain. That has happened a lot. We do a very bad job at reaching the second level on blocks and the interior O-Line has been pushed back by the defensive line as well.
