If you sign up for a difficult class, study, and work hard, you expect an A. You would probably be more dissapointed with a high B than a D because the B would show that you fell just short of expectations while the D would indicate that you'd over-estimated your abilities and you were lucky to pass, or there was something wrong with the way the course was graded. Maybe you made the B because of a few mistakes that you regret, and you know you could have done better. This is what happened to LSU this season, and we are arguing over wether we should be satisfied with the B, though we obviously would have rather made an A, or consider the B a failure since it wasn't the A we expected. Most of us would take the B and dedicate ourselves to working harder next time, right?

The people most bothered by LSU's performance and lack of championships most likely have nothing going on in their own lives. Yes, I'm talking about people that still agonize over past games like they still matter.

I remember being depressed, seriously depressed over the Saints losing to Seattle a couple of years back in the playoffs. My mom pointed out how ridculous that was, and looking back on it, it was ridiculous. That was the last time I got bent out of shape over the result of a football game. Freaking football games should not affect your mood that much.

This is seriously one of the dumbest things I have ever read on the Rant.

Some of these people have serious Saban man love issues. I'm holding out hope that we aren't really dealing with grown adults on here with the Saban obsession.

There are as many shrines to Saban in the New Orleans area alone than in the entire state of Alabama. Fact.

GrayTiger is right.
It could be worse than being number 14 in the country, unable to beat Clemson in the Chicken Bowl...
We should be celebrating!
We could be facing our golden years, living in Prairieville!

Right, we could have gotten embarrassed by Louisville in the Sugar Bowl.

This, or who have never played organized athletics beyond the high school level.

99.9% of LSU fans(and fans of other schools, to be fair) have NO IDEA what goes into building a successful football team. As Jim Mora said "You THINK you know, but you have NO idea."

The BEST that any fanbase can reasonably hope for is that the program is put in a position to COMPETE for championships. Especially in today's college football world, as there are great athletes at every school.

This ain't 1988 anymore.

You posted quotes about people are involved in the game.

We are fans. I watch LSU football because it brings me joy. I have no measurable effect on the outcome of the game. I don't watch LSU football to be angry. If I was competing then my philosophy would be similar to the quotes posted in the OP.

Wow someone who actually understood what Alleva was getting at when he said that. Instead the idiots on here put there rantard spin on it and turn it into something else. They also seem to think we have the most talented team ever every single year no matter what. We always have more talent. I'm sure most of these people are retards that didn't go to college, frat boys that have no clue what the hell they are talking about, or someone like Uncle Rico.

Right on the money.
These"fans" sit back and second guess every coaches move. They have nothing going on in their lives.
NO AMOUNT OF LSU WINS WILL MAKE YOUR HOUSE BIGGER, WIFE LOOK BETTER OR YOUR KIDS SMARTER.
It sucks that I usually say that to gumps, but we are becoming like more like Gumps ,every year

TDT,
What "others"?
You have no clue about my views on firing the head coach.

Win 10 games. Get a raise. Profit.
Without having a playoff, winning 10 games don't mean shite in today's football world.

Get in the playoffs, and win or play a good team with a chance for a title and the whole fan mentality changes.

Win 10 games, get a shitty bowl, and get beat by a lesser opponent and your program appears headed for the shitter.

Perception is everything.

We don't want him fired, we want him to change 'on the fly' and make improvements and updates to the program to keep it on the top level. Not have 'I know better than you' battles with the fanbase.

In the simplistic world of the rant, to be critical of a coach's persistent failures is to want him fired.
It's the same thing, right?
Right??

I could start a thread here right now asking "How many of you want Les Miles fired?" and within 10 minutes there will be 5 who want him fired.

your sarcastic post about "we're #14" is reflective of those who think miles is an awful coach, 10 wins is a disappointing season, a monkey could coach this team with all this talent to a 14-0 season every single yr, etc...

i'm sorry if you don't fall into that category. it wasn't a huge leap though.

I think you are drastically underestimating that number.
