He looks the part pysically and was highly recruited. This being his second year i had high hopes we would finally have a middle linebacker. Hopefully the lights will come on soon. Would love to see him or Feist finally break out.

He looked no better than Welter out there. He was totally out of position on Gordon's TD run to put the Badgers up 17-7.

Not really. We got poor play from Beckwith and Welter Saturday. I think the OP is asking how long before Beckwith can live up to his potential so we can actually be competent at MLB.

Right now it's a weak spot.

Future might be Garett at MLB and Beckwith at an outside spot

Hopefully he starts the next two games, get some confidence, then takes over and be Minter like.

Hopefully by the time we get to auburn. I don't see this team going very far with Welter taking a majority of the snaps. I hate to crap on him and I know he's the best option at this point but from a talent standpoint he has no business being on the field except on special teams. Chavis definitely deserves criticism for the way he's handled the position. Beckwith and Feist both no business having their hand in the dirt. Essentially wasted a year of development.

We have got to realize that we have been spoiled by our DL over the past several years. When you have A-A and A-SEC DT's then LBs are freed up to operate. When we see some 1-3 round draft picks playing at DT again we will see a drastic improvement in LB play - not that we have a top round MLB on the field either. Just sayin

We're stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Welter: Mentally, he's got it. Athletically, he gets run over when in position and is too slow to meet the RB on the outside.

Beckwith: Has the athleticism we need, but is out of position frequently.

I hope that Welter starts for the rest of the season because he is clearly the better player. He is faster and never seems out of position.

Beckwith needs to get more reps, it's the only way he'll get better. We already know what we're getting from Welter, time to let the youngster take some lumps and get better.

Even if it costs us a game?

He'll get plenty of time the next two games. Chavis is very good about putting the second team in early against the cupcakes. Much better than we do on offense.

Man what I wouldn't give to see Kwon slide over to MLB and bump Debo Jones up in Kwon's old spot.

Not really. Neither looked good. Though, as bad as our d-line played, it may be unfair to judge the lbs

I've mentioned this countless times. If Beckwith cant take over this year it's an option they should explore. We have to find an answer.

Isn't Kwon considered our best outside linebacker? I don't know why we should move him.

Who were the linebackers when we were causing all of those 3 and outs in the 2nd half?

So play a worse player just....because.
