I will be there tailgating and going to as many games as I can, as long as it's allowed. Tailgating is the only time I see a couple of my good friends, and my son is getting older and will soon be in college and probably won't want to hang out with Dad any more.

If we can't tailgate we should just protest with beer.

You say this now because of what is going on. The same amount of people will be there tailgating and going to the game.

I'd say a good number. I figured out how much more enjoyable it is to watch a game on TV, instead of going to games. You can easily watch other games, have easy access to a clean bathroom, be in the AC, cook easier, and most importantly not have a long car ride home.

A lot of people have already discovered this. Even last year the greatest in LSU history and tailgating was a shadow of what it was 10 years ago.

1 - LSU is going to have to stop the war on tailgating (as was well said earlier)

2 - the era of stadium expansion is over...as was said earlier as well, time to reimagine the seating configuration, my first suggestion is to get rid of the first two rows (which were the box seats many years ago)

eventually, sometime in the 21st century, lower bowl East and West Stadium will have to be rebuilt...the first question is, do you simply tear down the original stadium or do you demolish the dorms and the seating built during the 1930's?

I could see a reconfigured Tiger Stadium in the 2040 timeframe seating around 90-95,000 people in greater comfort...

This would be a good thing for our tailgate. Too many people showing up. We have to issue wrist bands to filter out the free loaders.

My crew isn't tailgating. We're protesting outside Tiger Stadium. Our protests happen to coincide with LSU home games.

Well you're in luck. Whether fans are allowed on campus or not, protesters are always allowed to assemble anytime, and anywhere.

The impact will be real. I run a medium size tailgate (20-40) and have missed 1 home game since 1996. If 2020 doesn’t happen, I am pretty much convinced I won’t need to go back in 2021. Sure, my mind could be changed when the calendar hits, but the fact that it is bouncing around my brain means the effect is real.

Programs are already losing attendance as more folks watch in the comfort of their homes. But the diehard fans will be starved for the experience. It's not just the game, it's the whole enchilada of tailgating and partying.

I'd take it step further and say the folks that go for the tailgating and partying have begun to outnumber those who are really invested in the game and the team. And that trend will not reverse it will only get bigger as the younger generation ages.

I go to a couple of different tailgates on game days and the number of folks who tailgate and don't go to the games and furthermore, could not carry on a knowledgeable conversation on the team or the game, is growing every year.

I say it will be bigger and better.

Absence can make the heart grow fonder.

Or people can be the glass half empty type.

I imagine it will be a much younger crowd on average.

However, the era of stadium expansion is over and was probably stupid in the first place.

This times 1,000! Ten years ago you could see that football attendance was going to plummet. I could not understand the expansion projects of the last decade.

You are dreaming if you think 90,000 people are going to witness an American football game in 2040. It's very possible the game will be outlawed by then, or at least turned into a non-contact sport.

The generation of pussies protesting for socialism is not a football crowd.

Their war on tailgting has its merits. For years and years tailgating went unchecked and unregulated on campus. At its height, it was a three ring circus. Every a-hole had an F250, generator, 2-3 tents, generator, BBQ trailer, and all the other tailgating accoutrements. LSU spends a ton of money upkeeping campus with landscaping and infrastructure maintenance. On gamedays you've got people driving their trucks and trailers through landscape areas, lawn areas, driving over and parking on oak tree roots, etc.

Also LSU has to maintain its parking lots and roads. There is no public funding for those things other than main arterial roads that are city/state maintained. It was time to reign the beast in and organize it. Too many people were packing campus that don't even attend the game and thus increasing the hell out of traffic and parking limitations.

I agree with you here. What you will see is a move to take away packed bleacher seating, and usher in comfortable chair backs with more space. Adding in additional technology help, wifi, etc that brings a better experience to the user is on the very near horizon.

I would say tailgating comes back strong but actual game attendance was already steadily falling and this just gives them a means to say, I'd rather continue the tailgate at home and watch on t.v....cause all the games are on t.v. now.

The embracing the Marxist anti-American BLM movement will hurt LSU more than the virus. And that will be long lasting.
