Hawthorne was great at calling out formations and telling us if a guy was going in motion to near or far side...for those that knew football you could visualize the play

I dont listen to the radio so I cant say Ive ever heard him call a game.

98% of fans watch them on TV so Blair is never heard by LSU fans.

He is better than Silver Tongue at actually telling you what is going on, but he is using FM DJ voice that sounds ridiculous. I find it hard to believe we could not get someone who could do a professional job (Hawethorne was awful at the nuts and bolts of the job) and was from here with an appreciation and in depth knowledge of the program.

Chris Blair seems like a nice enough guy but his voice is so irritating. I feel like he sounds like a guy doing an impression of a wacky FM DJ.

It doesn't help that he has zero ties to LSU and doesn't have that same passion that Jim did. Not saying Jim was flawless. I just miss his passion.

Blair is fantastic at baseball. I didn't listen to enough basketball because of the team last season to know how he is at that.

He has a great voice and is good at painting the picture but he doesn't seem to have enough LSU in him quite yet to really get me excited.

Listen to him calling the last 4th down stop against Florida. LSU just won the game but it sounds like they just made some ordinary 3rd down stop in the 2nd quarter.

LINK

Hawthorne got hate for good reasons but he was a super fan. Hawthorne would have given you a big BATTED DOWN there and something about the Tigers pulling it out and a holy cow.

His broadcast gives the feel of someone not connected to what is going on, though he is reporting it accurately but like he is reading in the 3rd person, very separated feeling

You must have really low standards on what constitutes a "legend." Chris Blair actually makes listening to Tiger sports on the radio enjoyable again.

I listened to the Florida game, I thought he was good, but I'll admit sometimes I forgot he was LSU's guy. I'll agree the passion for LSU isn't there yet, I'm sure it will come.

My biggest gripe is he takes forever to explain a play. You can hear the fans cheering or the bat hit the ball and it takes him a few seconds to get to it.

*ping*

...
3 seconds go by

Don't care for his style of broadcasting. Thankfully because what games I don't attend I watch on tv I seldom have to tune in.

I find Blair to be excellent...his voice is clear and steady and his delivery is professional.

the only thing I miss about JHawthorne is the distinctive nature of his voice...I could just scroll through channels and hawthorne's voice would grab my attention as soon as I passed it. That may come over time with Blair, but right now, I don't immediately recognize his voice.

+1000...NO ONE can duplicate the "Golden Voice" of Tiger Football but Blair does a good job.
