He already blew out his arm
What makes him so effective is he is a rare high school three pitch pitcher
He commands three in the strike zone

I guess most other elite programs. Seems like LSU looses at least 2-3 players a year to some sort of arm injury

Maybe it seems that way because you only pay attention to LSU.
If you don’t pay attention to the wider universe of college baseball, you can’t reasonably determine where LSU fits.

Mississippi State had 7 guys in one year have TJ.
Arizona state lost their whole weekend rotation this year.
Texas Tech lost at least two this year.
Throwing a baseball is risky for your elbow’s health. That doesn’t change with geography.

These arm injuries are coming from youth travel ball workload
Most college coaches would be out of a job if they were ruining prospects
You can't tell me PM doesn't manage his pitch counts
100 is about the max he lets them go and has always been that way
It cost him a regional against Houston Cougars when he refused to run someone out there on short rest

Why should every great talent in Louisiana HAVE to love LSU and want to go there? I’m actually kinda serious.

I would want to play for LSU regardless

Probably doesn’t want to develop any elbow pain. Smart move
State has their own issues with this.

Apparently so does Barbe, or the Louisiana Knights, or whoever you want to blame for the kid already blowing out his elbow.

I’ve shared this theory before but I believe that “good” mechanics are to blame. Kids being taught earlier how to throw hard. It’s not workload in terms of pitches or innings early. It’s stress per pitch. We know how to maximize the throwing mechanics and that means more whip to create more velocity. Kids are throwing harder. That’s the real issue imo. If you want to call it an issue. And it won’t be fixed. No one is going to tell a kid not to throw so hard.

Would you want to play for CPM?

also looks like he was only the 15th best player in Louisiana last year. He must have really improved since having surgery.
Roids...

j/k...don't know the kid
The SWLA baseball talent is just insane right now. Look across the class rankings and you'll see:
Barbe, Sam Houston, Sulphur
LC Prep
St. Louis Catholic
Gotta keep these kids in state.

That's definitely a big part of it.
Another thing is the lack of balance in strength training. It's a lot easier to get leg strength built up than usable arm strength. And guys get taught the kinetic chain and push power from their legs all the way through the ball.
You can end up effectively trying to push water from a fire hydrant through a garden hose. And that puts a TON of stress on the elbow.
