I think it'd be really awesome and special for lets just say Les MIles to get a Heisman player under his belt to begin to call it a career coaching here.

I'd rather a bowl win, been a long time since we had one

you don't think that is a great recruiting tool going after 5 star big timers?

Almost zero...other than the additional national exposure the award brings with it.

This view is based mostly on my belief that it's a stupid award that states it's awarding the most valuable player, but that really awards the QB/RB with the most gaudy stats on a higher profile team in nearly all cases. If they REALLY DID award the most valuable player in college football, regardless of position and regardless of the prestige of the team he was on, I'd care more about it.

I'd frankly prefer to have LSU players win things like Thorpe, Bednarik, Outland, etc.

I'd love to see it happen if we have someone who really deserves it. If not, I'm fine with not getting one.

That would be awesome.....But I don't think our current gameplan/coaching philosophy would allow for a heisman type performance all year....IMO

I don't think it matters.

It would be cool to have a Heisman winner but I really just couldn't care less about it.

Not at all. It has become a who cares award. It is a ridiculously long ceremony for an award where the winner rarely is great at the next level. Also it is mainly a QB/RB award.

This is my feeling about the award. Sure it means a lot to win it, but it really isn't a fair award because it compares apples to oranges.

Heck I kind of wish they had two Heisman awards each year for offense and defense.

Nobody cares, but when Jennings and fournette go back to back to back it will be awesome.

obvioulsy nobody would take heisman over championship.

lets say you have two year options:
A) team goes to championship but loses, not that close of a game.
B) team doesn't go to championship, wins bowl and finishes No.3 in the country with a heisman winnnig runningback.

Not important - to me, it's as much about the best media blitz as it is the best player. Seems like more a distraction than a benefit to the team as a whole.

Don't care at all. I just want the hardware. SEC and National Championships. And after 2011, (and especially with the start of a playoff), the SEC Championships are going to mean less and less to me. The conference championship is a very good indicator of where you are as a program. If you aren't playing in that game every 3-4 years, you are a pretty terrible program. So, I like playing in it. But overall, it doesn't mean a whole lot and will mean less when you can do what Bama has done in 2011 and 2013 and still make it in the top 4.

I'll take (B)

Winning a bowl and heisman could provide positive momentum for the next season, whereas being blown out in the championship is program damaging.
