He is dominating in college. How did he end up going to college unlke most other top prospects? I can't imagine him not hammering high school pitchers and if this was the case how was he not one of the top players drafted?

Questions about what position he would play then he had a broken finger early in his senior season.

Well they pretty much mention it every game.. He broke his pinky and missed his whole senior year. Was predicted to go in the top 6 rounds of the draft as a senior though I'm pretty sure (before the injury)

Not sure of highschool average, but he missed all of his senior year with a broken finger and so his stock fell a bit.

I'm pretty sure he broke a finger really close to the draft last year and dropped considerably. Otherwise, he wouldn't have made it to campus.

ETA: ok, so it wasn't too close to the draft, as others have stated.

He broke his pinky and that killed his draft status? Which pinky?

Battled an injury during his senior season, but hit .678 as a high school junior in 2011 and set a New Mexico season record with 19 HRs ... coached by Jason Columbus, who played at LSU in 2002 as a reserve first baseman ... received first team All-State recognition ... led 18U U.S. National Team to a gold medal in the fall of 2011 at the International Baseball Federation World Championships ... ... received All-Metro honors and All-District honors ... received 2010 Richard W. Case Award as the USA Baseball Player of the Year ... helped lead team to high school state championship in 2009.

So yea...pretty good in high school

I remember hearing about the injury now just listening to games but a broken finger can really drop someone that far?

He didn't play for a whole season. That tends to scare teams away when millions of dollars are in play.

No, there were other questions about his position. Not being able to play and show that he could play a premium defensive position dropped him a couple rounds. Once he slipped out of the first 3 or 4 rounds teams knew they would have to pay way over slot to get him and under the new rules it it would have affected their ability to sign other picks. So then he really dropped.

Woulda been a first round but broke his finger.

Maybe not finger but it was something minor that didn't allow him to play his senior year.

I've heard he was considered a first round talent but really wanted to come to LSU so teams shied away. Course this is from the reveille, homers
