I’ve heard some say the best in the SEC but idk if we’re quite there yet. I see a lot of Bama defenders in mock drafts but I don’t think we’re far off some of our players are just underrated right now.

Chassion imo is the x-factor. You see what Josh Allen did at Kentucky and the what the pass rushers for MSU and Bama do for them, Chassion can have that impact.

very very good. Wouldn't be surprised if we struggle week 1, but we should be very good the rest of the year.

Should have a very strong secondary if Fulton + Stingley live up to expectations plus one of our best Dlines in years. If the linebackers can step up to replace White it will be very stout.

They should be the best defense in the nation. Honestly.

The pass rush should be better. Chaisson and Divinity will be very good on the outside.

I don't care what anyone says though, losing Devin White will hurt the middle of the defense more than most of us are ready to admit.

That's a little aggressive just because of the competition, but I agree we have the athletes to combine for best in the nation. Not sure it'll translate in stats, but we'll be up there.

If Ika and Shelvin carry their weight, and therefore Fehoko and Lawrence can do a bit more work from the outside, it really could be the best defense in the country. Not really exaggerating at all.

I agree with this.

There are some x-factors but our D is stacked.

You can’t replace a player like Devin, but as a whole, the defense should be much better. Much like in 2011 when we lost Pat Pete the year before and were better.

Better than last year. That’s saying a lot.

Top 10 in the nation 100% not even a question there. IMO, we have a top 5 defense in the country that can easily be the best defense in CFB.

We will probably have one of the best defenses in the country. The DB's should be better than we have had in a couple years, LB's overall should be pretty solid but won't have anyone on the level of Devin White, but still pretty good. If Ika and Shelvin can hold their own then the DL will be somewhat approaching the kind of DL we used to have year in year out, but still somewhat short of that standard. Overall I think the defense will be better than last year, but not having White in the middle is going to hurt big time. Still wouldn't surprise me if we have one of the 20 best D's in the country.

for sure we have a legit shot of having a better D than last year and might have the talent to have the 2nd best D in the SEC.

If shelvin can plug up the middle and Lawrence plays at Fiesta bowl level Stingley, Fulton, Delpit, and whoever are gonna absolutely eat up passing teams. I'm not as high on Queen as some others, but I still think it's gonna be awfully difficult to run effectively on us. I say top 5 in total D is ceiling. Top 15 is floor.
I think our turnover ratio is gonna be 2011 good.

Jacoby Steven's is the X factor in my opinion. The way he played late in the year was first round type stuff. He can do everything. Derwin James comes to mind. I think Aranda will make a superstar out of Steven's.

Another big factor is Shelvin/Ika. If both can play big time football and rotate in and out and coexist to perfection we could have a 2011 type defense.

Patrick Queen will be the breakout player. The kid is a thumper and is SO violent. I wouldnt want to play LSU and I can promise you nobody on our schedule is looking forward to the week they play us.

Like when they came out and exposed Miami effectively enough to ruin their season?

There can be 5 2020 first rd draft picks off of this defense and at least 6 total if Stingley’s career goes as projected. That equals a shot at being the best defense in the country.

Grant Delpit might be the best player on D in the county. So much depends on health, especially on the line and our rush OLBs. But nobody has mentioned Marcel Brooks who could have a Honey Badger type freshman year.
