With a recruiting class and the portal

Can we be at least average or even very good next season?

Coaching is another question

Well lets break it down:

DT: Its not out of the realm of possibily that Maason Smith was never fully healthy and in shape this year. If he comes back and is closer to what he was supposed to be his soph year then thats a huge plus. If Wingo comes back thats also a huge plus. Then we get Shone Washington and possibly a transfer or two and the DT position could be much better next year.

DE: Womack is a stud and I assume he will get more playing time. Plus Wiggins could live up to his recruiting ranking. We also get Jones and Shand back and both of those guys flashed at times. If these players all improve, we could also be much better at this position.

LB: Greg Penn is what he is and thats an average to slightly above average college LB. Whitt Weeks should blow up next year as a starter. And then there is Perkins. I assume they will try to play him inside again and see if it sticks this year. If he figures it out, Weeks and Perkins could be an incredible LB combo.

Edge: Swinson flashed and should get the start next year. I also think that Womack could get some reps at this spot too. We also have a few freshman that could step up here so we should be better at this spot as well.

CB: This will fully depend on Alexander getting healthy, what we have in JK Johnson, how much Stamps and Toviano can improve, and what transfers we can lure here. The good news is that it honestly can't be worse than this past season.

S: We need transfers, the freshman like Yates, Allen, and maybe Toviano to grow up, or McBride to come in and be a stud. Burns sucks so if he's our best safety next year we are in trouble.

In conclusion: I think we could be a pretty good defense next year if our current players develop and we get the right transfers.

Don't know. How fast did Daniels turn around as a passer?? Who's to say something similar doesn't happen on defense next season with a high number of starters returning, and strategic portal grabs?

Weren’t we there in 2022 when we won the SEC West?

Still gave up 40 to Tennessee
35 to Florida
31 to Bama
38 to A&M
50 to UGA

Maybe House needs more time, and more talented players.

LSU's miserable defense this year came out of the blue. This unit excelled in 2022 and House had a stellar record at Kentucky as DC. I think all these crys of "Fire House" are irresponsible and idiotic. Let him do what he can do-- the Chairman.... dances.

None of that is possible without a complete d staff replacement. Just more of the same otherwise.

Yeah give this fabulous "new DC" of yours the same shite show House had to deal with and YOU will be the first one to call for his head after 1 year.

You know nothing.

What makes you think we won't get that? BK said today that he will make the moves necessary for the program.

One corner and a dynamic edge rusher could change everything. Someone you could count on to lock down majority of a side, and disrupt the passer to help the other side.

I think our interior DLine is decent. Just need to play with a consistent attitude.

You can get back to an average defense instantly. How much further beyond average is a good question.

They just can't get blown off the ball like they did at Bama.

You saw what Bama's Oline was doing to UGA....., but I do agree with you.

This is such a stupid gripe.

Yes, he said "we" because fans are emotionally invested in their team and any success or failure feels as though its happening to us too.

Obviously its not the same as it is for the players but WE are fully invested in OUR team.
