Can't we just all agree that everyone wants LSU to be the best.
im not so sure this is true. there are several posters on here that have admitted to rather seeing Miles lose than LSU win......and i'm sure there's more that haven't admitted it.
their hatred runs deep for some reason.
plus...i'm pretty sure not everyone here is an LSU fan. they're just here to stir shite up

Well, this goes without saying.

Our exceptional performance against Notre Dame. Duh.
Assuming LSU is not light years removed from NC, hope abounds in Fayetteville.

Watching this game, after watching our bowl in person, it seems as though we are light years away from playing on this stage, at this level.
I came away with the exact opposite impression. I watched the OSU offense thinking that we could run that exact offense, right now, with our personnel. OK, Cardale is a freak, but I think we should be able to find a QB who can go 16/23 for 242 yards, particularly with our receiving corps. Heck, he only rushed for 38 yards on 21 carries (I know, it seemed like a lot more).
LSU should dump the pro set and adapt to a power spread. OSU just gave us a blueprint on how to run a spread offense while still milking clock and physically punishing the other side, a fundamental precept of Les Miles football. And our defense is already the best in the SEC, though we need to find answers at the DE position.
Also, OSU was so heavily reliant on sophomores, and LSU's fabulous recruiting class of last year will be entering their sophomore year next season. I don't know how you watch OSU play physically dominant football like that and not get excited about LSU: we have the athletes to play like that RIGHT NOW.

I agree our QB play must improve for the repeatedly-stated reasons. But most important is the play at the lines (and a little team luck and swagger).
LSU's play in the trenches must be more consistent. Our D-Line took half the season to get lined up (and amped up) properly, and our O-Line play just depends on the week.
Trenches made the difference in last night's NC. Despite giving up 4 turnovers, Ohio State won because it owned the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, and Oregon couldn't do anything about it.
Having the better line doesn't guarantee a win (see Bama v. OSU), but it puts you in the best position to make a run.

At this point, I'm not sure that Harris is the answer. Jennings is definitely not the answer. Until we get a competent QB and adjust to allow the offense to have an identity(besides sheety), I don't feel that we will compete for championships. Miles can do it. But will he?

Miles/Cam do not know how to coach that offense. you have to understand all of the concepts for each position and the techniques required. they can't coach that system…i would be a half arse non-effective version. if you run that system you have to commit fully to it, not just mix in a few extra plays.

it could/would achieve every goal that Miles has for his offense. ball and clock control while having his QB's in the shotgun where they are assuredly most comfortable.
butttttt pretty sure that's not gonna happen.

can Cam coach a power spread though?
Posted on 1/13/15 at 10:00 am to The Egg
Why not? Wasn't Cam talking about installing the spread after the Notre Dame game? If anything, the OSU example makes it more likely he can make a case to do so, as he can show Les how the spread can still mean power, ball-control football (as if Auburn isn't a good enough example).
I think OSU winning in such a fashion was the best thing possible for LSU. It showed how CLOSE we are with the personnel we currently have on campus.

and yet people on this board act like every coach in the country not named Miles could win a NC with a 3rd string QB.
I don't think people really think this. But is does accentuate how pathetic our situation is.

About 10-15 years if Les miles keeps recruiting these Jordan Jefferson Quarterbacks
