How does this assessment of Fournette strike you?

I don’t think anyone ever complained about him working It just seems he could always do more make himself better.
Compare him to a Clyde who has worked his butt off to squeeze every drop of talent he has to become a great back and first round pick. I just always felt that Fournette could be better than he was at LSU and has been in the NFL. Part of his problems at LSU were injuries in his defense.
There is a difference in being a hard worker and becoming good at your job from working your butt off and becoming the best you can be at that job.

The problem was LSU fans and coaches basically begged him to attend LSU, and let him do whatever he wanted to keep him happy. We have clearly seen one recruit or player is not a program make or break, so hopefully we learned our lesson about acting desperate about one.

Fournette only gave us about 80 % most of the time with us.
Now his 80% was better than most running backs, but he could have been much more.

In my opinion, he's never had to work crazy hard to dominate the sport in his entire life. But when he got into the NFL, everyone is a freak and to separate yourself you need to have that killer work ethic, which he never developed over the years.
If he worked as hard as some less gifted guys, he could be pretty incredible in the league.
Guy also isn't the type to make the first man miss before he gets momentum. He needs a better offense to really excel as it is.

The problem is the team he plays for - everyone wants out of Jacksonville. No players are "buying in" - especially with Coughlin in charge (who they finally had to fire last year). All their good players leave or are traded because none are willing to sign a 2nd contract - Jalen Ramsey, AJ Bouye, and now Yannick Ngakoue. Free agents don't want to play there - at one point last year the NFLPA warned players to stay away from Jacksonville!. Get Leonard to a decent team, he'll be fine if he stays healthy.

He isn’t a bust on the JaMarcus level. JR really should supersede that Mandarich(?) steroid freak as the biggest bust of all time. However, LF has never been a game changer in college or pro ball and that is way below his potential so he is a bust

Look at the top 10 paid RBs, only a few are really getting paid good value
McCaffrey is $16 - base of whole offense
Zeke is at $15 - base of whole offense
LeVeon Bell - $13 way overpaid unless he has a major return to form
David Johnson $13 - way overpaid
Henry - $10 Franchised
Kenyon Drake - $8 transition tag
Melvin Gordon - $8 2 year deal
Barkley $7.6 - rookie contract
Fournette - Rookei Contract
The only guys getting over 8 million are either the top RBs int eh league, or on terrible contracts.

I always thought Fournette played hard, but always felt like he didn't take coaching very well. As you step up in levels this becomes a much bigger detriment to your play. He has the pass catching skills to fit in to any offense. He was so much better than anyone else, he could pretty much do whatever he wanted and still be a star. This has led to inconsistent performances as a pro.

I loved LF and thought he was incredible talent BUT he never seemed like he put forth maximum effort and wasn't that driven for being the best like the great ones are.

You obviously don't keep up with this team.

Sure the NFL is a business but players like Dante Fowler, Jalen Ramsey, Telvin Smith, and LF are divas and these divas are cancer to the TEAM sport of football. If they don't like the way things are going they jump on social media or do stupid shite like get arrested (hum hum LF unpaid tickets & recently Telvin Smith) or get in fights with teammates like Fowler did. Unlike Fowler and Ramsey there were teams willing to make a move and accept the baggage. LF has the talent but he doesn't stand out due to his injuries and other things like those constant breaking team rules and one game suspensions he has gotten every year he has been here. This is his contract year lets just see if he can shut up and let his talking be on the football field. If he puts up good numbers and shows out he will get his money either here or somewhere else.

What? His sophomore year is the best we have ever seen from an LSU RB. We were #2 in the nation going into the Bama game with an extremely limited passing game. How do you think we got there? How quickly we forget.
He was banged up his Jr year, so if you want to say he gave 80% I won’t argue with you, but our fan base is fickle as frick. We had the best backup RB in the nation at the time. He didn’t need to play late in the season and our coaching staff encouraged him to sit.

He has nearly 1200 yards last year with 76 catches for another 550, all on one of the worst teams in the league.
His rookie year he had almost 300 yards and 4 TD in the playoffs and came close to taking his team to the SB
