How does the loss of Perkins affect your outlook on the rest of the season?

I rewatched the UCLA game and it easily could have been the blowout we wanted. Our defense stepped up and played way better as the game progressed. Perkins was honestly a non factor in most of the game. (Wishing him a speedy recovery)

I think it hurts IF Perkins was going to break through.

Do you think his injury loses us a game or two we wouldn’t have?

Do you think Baker can still field a good defense against Ole Miss and Bama? If so, how should we replace Perk?

I hate it for him, but he is just a tweener. He is at best a situational type player, which there is a need in the nfl....but honestly as an every down player he is a liability...and I'm not kicking him when he is down. He just isn't big enough to play the role they want him in.

Defense will improve as McKinley gets on the field more. Our biggest problem is right up the middle, MLB and DT. Perkins isn’t being used right anyway so his impact wasn’t enough for his loss to hurt that much.

Pretty much not at all.

I wish Perkins the speediest of recoveries but his progression here has been disappointing to say the least. We get less and less out of him each year he's here with this year being the most disappointing so far (granted we were just 4 games in). 0 sacks in 4 games this year after 10 his freshman year and 6 last year (PFF stats there, not official NCAA). Only 4 hurries in 43 pass rush snaps this season with 0 hits on the QB and 0 sacks. This is extremely low for Perkins when you look back at his past here.

It just seems like multiple coaching staffs just really have no idea what to do with him. His best attribute is clearly pass rushing off the edge, which we really dont need him to do this season when you have a guy like Swinson dominating from that spot...and outside of pass rushing from the edge he is a very average player. He misses way too many tackles which really limits his value as an inside linebacker who need to be sound tacklers so we're not relying on the secondary to clean up so much. He led the team so far this year with 6 missed tackles, next up is 4 from Whit Weeks who has notably more tackles than Perkins does.

It means more Burns

I don't consider that a good thing

Doesn’t change much. They rarely used Perkins correctly

Still 9-3, now maybe 8-4 unless the whole team steps up and really plays above their talent level.
They have been underwhelming.

It hurts Perkins more than the team.

Yall are making me feel a lot better!

Should we use Toviano over Burns at Star? Is that the best answer? Or have both Weeks bros

It’s just a guess but I’ll say Burns. What we were doing before Perkins burst on the scene in mid 2022 was have Ward playing there, using 3 safeties.

After his freshman season, I wondered if Perkins’ handlers were dictating what position he’d play to groom him for the next level.

That’s my conspiracy theory. In reality though I’m sad for Harold because it sucks to get injured, and you never know if all of a sudden he’d catch on fire again.

Obviously dont want a player to get hurt but his play was causing his draft stock to drop and now the injury. Maybe a 3-4th rounder depending on the recovery.

I thought this was well known? Especially after the FSU game last year

Zero, he whiffed on so many tackles so far this year that I felt he was WAY overrated.
