From what I was tracking all teams were hard capped at 25. How can some exceed that number?

Why does it matter, we couldn't even sign a full class if we wanted

Back counted. But as said above, it doesn't matter. We turned recruits away because we didn't have room for them.

I guess that's a couple extra spots that can be filled next year by whoever replaces Orgeron.

I thought you couldn't back count anymore.

There is probably not a single Dodge Challenger left for sale in a 90 mile radius of Athens this morning.

Yes you can back count. We couldn't because the three transfers last year counted as well as Seth Stewart, who was only here for about 2 days last summer.

I think the deal is that you just can't over sign anymore and then hope that one or two don't show up or have academic problems. If that doesn't happen you would wind up telling one or more of the recruits that you signed that you actually don't have room for them when they showed up for school in August.

NOw the rule is you can only sign as many as you have room for in this class and as many as you can back count to the prior yeqr. Can't over sign anymore

The answer is that you CAN count back. You could always count back, the rule never changed, but a lot of people were confused, and a lot of people just repeated incorrect information. Georgia, Ohio State, Texas and Notre Dame all counted back.

Early enrollies can count towards years prior if 25 limit wasn't met in past years. 85 total scholarships any given year as well - so you could only sign less than 25. You can still back count. They signed 26, but some of the early enrollees counted towards prior years and 85 total.

25 players each year is a cap as well as 85 total, you still can do funny math to backcount. They did remove the ability to replace a scholarship if a player you sign up leaves, or becomes academically ineligible (Shelvin - counted last year)
